Welp, thought this entry about the pool party was already posted, so just gonna add to it/update it, THEN post it…again.. lol
So.. Sunday was my B-day, its always a low-key thing for me. some ppl at work are always surprised how well I keep it low-key. They all forgot until they saw FB I’d get away with it too if it wasn’t for my in-laws, husband, friend who’s b-day is the day is after mine, etc etc..
I got a new set of Jammies and a cute koala hot water bottle holder w/said bottle from Hubby from la Vie en Rose, as well as an in-game pet in WoW.
Mom with all shes got going on, forgot.... lol i called her at 1130. she was mortified. lol
Funny story… we went to do a few errands after work and we didn’t wanna cook, so we stopped and got grocery store fried chicken, and a small chunk of caramel cheesecake.... Mom had the same the same night! Almost to the cheesecake! But it was bigger then she wanted for just herself to have to eat all of.. lol
So i think i wrote in here ( to lazy to go back and look) about dad belonging to a Billiards club, and that he had played enough hrs to earn a free members jacket and a huge certificate, that he never used..
Well, yesterday, before I went to work, I emailed the head of said club, and told them the story, of how he had passed, and i received his jacket and cue, and that we found this unused certificate, and was there anyway I could be the receipt of it to use in his name as i am a member as well. Wasn’t expecting anything to be honest, but I thought what the hell, nothing to lose.
Got and email back this morning, from the club down home, where he was a member.
Two options.
1) i can take a voucher of $150 towards an online proshop purchase.
2) she (explain after) will assist me in hosting a pool tournament , and comp $150 of free food, and donate the time/tables to the event.
The lady who emailed me back, is one who has worked at the hall for 10 years. She started when she was 19 and fondly remembers my dad, and how he was always so good to the staff there and always smiling and laughing, and said while technically she can not reissue the certificate in my name, as its not “supposed to be transferable”, she could provide one of the above mentioned options.
I talked to Mom, she thinks its a great idea and in further discussion with the manager there, we decided on a $10 entry fee tournament in Dad’s name that would be donated to a charity/organization, and between me and Mom, decided who the donation would go too.
Messaged Step-bro about it, to get in contact with the people Dad used to play with so that they all get first invite from us about it.
I think he would approve.
sorry, long entry…
