This is on the short list for the Oscars for foreign film. It's set in Rome, a has been writer (one book published), at 65 is mulling over his life and his social circle. It's beautifully set in Rome, but VERY, VERY strange. The characters are odd; the situations are odd; the juxtaposition of scenes is odd. It seems to have been influenced by Fellini... especially La Dolce Vita. In a way it's a travelogue for Rome... but a warning not to live there as it seems to corrupt the inhabitants.
