I'm Safe! in Diary

I’m keeping my job! I can’t tell you how relieved I am. If I had lost my job, I would have ended up homeless as there would be no-one to pay the mortgage. On top of everything else that’s happened / happening it probably would have broken me.

Obviously I feel terrible for my colleagues who have lost their job as they’ve all been doing it longer than me. But my manager and his manager told me they think I’m committed, diligent, keen to learn etc. I’m sure they’ve made the right decision ;o)

There’s going to be a complete restructure though, so I’ll be interested to see how that pans out.

Also, they’re changing the shift patterns. At the moment we work rotas of 6am-3pm, 8am-5pm and 9am-6pm. Everyone loves the 6am-3pm shift because you miss all the traffic, and there’s still time at the end of your shift to get things done like haircuts (I’ve got one on Thursday), shopping etc. But it’s going to change so we’re all only working 8am-5pm.

I’m not happy about this; the traffic is an absolute nightmare at this time, especially when there’s an event on at the NEC next door (Fancy getting stuck in the traffic from Crufts???) When I’m on the early shift, I can get to work in 25 minutes. On the 8am shift, it takes me an hour. Urgh.

Thanks for all of your lovely messages of support, you lot always keep me going through a crisis :o)

Anyway, in other good news, my car passed its MOT yesterday! (Something else I managed to squeeze in while on the early shift.) In my nine years of driving I’ve never had a car pass its MOT first time. So that’s made me happy as well, my car is great :o)
