Desperate for Color in Everyday Ramblings

I am so desperate for color in this dark wet gray world that I hope you can forgive me for posting a crocus picture yet again.
Don’t tell anyone but today we had some intermittent sun and so far no rain. Man, are my rain pants happy. They are feeling seriously over used.
It is a workday for me so I didn’t get out as much as I would have liked. I’ll enjoy the walk to class and back.
Most Honorable has the cold virus and Kes is struggling with allergies and maintaining normal breathing and our niece is also recovering from being sick and her new partner was not crazy about the idea of driving over three hours for dinner and then driving back so our big family get together and birthday celebration has been canceled.
We all feel bad. It is my niece’s 50th birthday on Sunday. This is the second full set of plans that hasn’t worked out for her about this birthday. I sure hope she has a good day. I am sure Miss E. will do something to spoil her.
Had we known we would have done something special but with the plans so in flux… Oh well. We’ll figure out a way to get together at some point and hopefully can laugh about it.
I am still struggling a bit with my weight. I am staying steady at about 4 lbs. over my goal weight and had to get vouchers from work to pay for my Weight Watchers membership again.
Very motivated and looking for some new approach I got this new book called The Migraine Relief Plan written by a nutritionist Stephanie Weaver who lives in San Diego. It is an anti-inflammatory diet and lifestyle plan. If I were actually able to manage it I know I would feel better and lose the weight I need to.
There is no sugar allowed except a little bit of stevia. Eek. I am not totally convinced I can live without sugar. She says that after you are stable on the plan you can have a little…and think of it as a recreational drug. Strangely, as a yoga teacher I get asked about anti-inflammatory diets fairly often…
It is funny though because a number of the things she recommends I already do. I’ve had migraines for 45 years and you do figure certain things out not to do over time.
Yesterday working with my physical therapist, he was looking at my back while I was doing a forward bend, and says he thinks I have a structural problem, that the pulled rib and overdeveloped muscle to protect it, might be because I have a curve in my spine there, an imbalance, a mini scoliosis.
And all this walking I do, and the wear and tear of carrying everything (after all these years without a car) is adding up to the pain. He also is comfortable saying that the pain I am feeling now is because I am addressing the structural imbalance and my body is going…what the???
Diego is bored and pestering me here while I am typing.
I had a good class on Wednesday. I had some new students and it was a congenial group and some returning students that hadn’t been to class for weeks. Tonight I have my fingers crossed that I will have students, at least a few.
The news is so distressing on so many levels. Tonight again I am teaching mood modification and I sure could use some…without sugar, ha.
