The Life Domestic in Everyday Ramblings

I took this yesterday during a brief break in the rain. They are my favorite crocuses in the neighborhood and they are late coming up this year. We are having an absurd amount of rain. One has things to do so avoiding being out in it is not practical.
It did slack off a bit and I managed an exploratory trip to the grocery employing the techniques “my” PT suggested and I am thrilled to say that although I feel pressure and tightness I was able to shop and get home pain free. I will continue to develop new hacks to make the process easier until I can splurge on my own personal collapsible cart.
Yesterday my big excitement was installing the new Internet modem from my cable company. It is all so complicated. I was actually glad I was alone because I got a slight bit testy at a couple of points. And then there was Diego, who ever so much wanted to “help”.
I was proud of myself that I got everything working but then I couldn’t get my router talking to the modem and in the process of working with it I managed to get my laptop (which has the software installed) to forget my router. Eek.
It turns out (with the IM help of Most Honorable who I give an Honorable shout out to here) I don’t need the router anymore. There was a little bit of cold sweat involved in figuring out how to reconnect all my work equipment so it all was operational.
I have a heck of a lot of devices these days. I even remembered to test out my ancient (9 years old) television.
It does seem that I am good to go. The Internet speed is faster but a bit less stable than it was before.
Today I am cooking and looking at recipes and puttering and listening to podcasts. I am teaching this evening what will be a smaller than normal class because of the holiday.
I finally finished watching Season 1 of The Crown. It took me over three months to get through the 10 episodes. I admit a few times I went and looked up what happened historically because the suspense was intense. What a fun (and lavish) way to get to know history.
Even though I was named after Queen Elizabeth I haven’t been that interested in her story since I was a girl.
I also sent back the two disks I have been sitting on for months and months to Netflix unwatched. I kept finding other things to do. And I finished a cozy mystery I had been working on for months.
When I retire I will need to let go of many of my subscriptions so it is good to get in as much enjoyment of them as I can now. Our library has just started making magazines available digitally so that is way cool.
Diego, who is not much of a purr bunny is sprawled out on my lap (on top of my rain pants) while I type this and is purring. I switched out their flea control this morning and I think he feels better.
I most wholeheartedly wish you better weather than we are having here.
