Yesterday morning as soon as we dropped Hilda off at day care, we went to the kindergarten where Chelsea attented to....pre-register Hilda. Yep! This August she will start Pre-K, that’s why we started her in day care 3 weeks ago so she can get used to being around other kids. (I can be pretty boring sometimes). Bittersweet memories walking around there, I was welcomed by Chelsea’s former teacher, and met the new principal.
After registering, Adrian was at home printing up tax data for his union. Adrian, as of August, is the Secretary of Finances for his union. He is awesome because despite being a computer program engineer, he got a masters in business and is so open to learning new things. He asked me to teach him and guide him, and he is a quick learner. The OCD in him makes him very organized and excelllent with the finances, hehe. Anyway, he wanted to take it all to Office Depot to get it laminate, but I think he forgot who he lives with: me. Good thing I have my own laminating pouches, I laminated it all faster than he could drive to Office Depot and take a number and wait forever. I’m such a dork about office supplies…
Shortly after an aunt of his showed up out of without appointmen and wanted me to take her to visit 2 of her tenants. She just registered herself to legally rent two houses, that she has never reported taxes for. Since the houses are actually being used for business, I advised her to legally pay her own taxes. She’s made a big deal of mentioning how she wants to immediately evacuate one tenant because she is so rude and crazy, and is very insistent on this point. Well, I talked to the tenant over the phone, she seemed pretty calm to me. The fact just dawned on me that 3 months ago, a cousin of Adrian’s mentioned to me that she was going to put up a restaurant as soon as she got funding for it, and she was going to use this very exact house as her point of business. THAT is why Aunt Emerita is acting so ‘scared´ of her tenant and finding ways to evict her. I really don’t appreciate being lied to. I’m doing her taxes, but I will not participate in helping her evict somebody for personal reasons when there is a signed lease that doesn’t end till October. Sometimes I think people really mistake me for being dumb.
Last night there were four murders. It’s happening again. We had about 6 years of bliss where there was no longer curfew, where we could go out with our families again without fearing for our lives. Four murders in a span of about 3 hours. This drug war, will it ever end? If we were to leave here to have the girls in a safe place, for sure my parents would not want to leave. That breaks my heart because I fear for them every single day. :(
Today I had an appointment to get my much needed haircut. The last time I went was about 6 months ago. I felt like a puppy getting a head rub when the girl washed my hair, and I even fell asleep while she cut my hair. It was one hour of silence; no clients, no husband, no kids, no phone calls, no message after message in whatsapp from Chelsea’s friends. Just me and a nice warm blow dryer on my hair.
