Long ago, there lived a Queen.
She ruled her kingdom fair and wise.
But she was alone.
She wanted a partner.
But not just some servant;
Queens need to be strong all the time.
Someone she could be Her true self with.

She sent her royal guard to search Her Queendom,
high and low, for a boy worthy of Her.
The line was long, spilling out beyond the castle walls.
She was impressed at first,
but soon realized many were just flaunting.
Their true selves weren’t what She was looking for.
They offered her gems.
They offered her land.
But the Queen already has these things.
The Queen wanted a partner, not diamonds.

At the end of the line was a humble boy.
He had no jewels or land to offer Her.
She looked down on the boy, skeptical.
All he had to offer was his mind, body, and soul..
The Queen, being wise, could sense what this boy had to offer. “You are mine. I own you now.” The Queen commanded.

The boy wore ragged clothes,
his long hair unkempt.
The Queendom gasped, “This pathetic boy?”
But the Queen commanded, “I will always rule over you, but this boy shall be our king.”
The boy felt inferior to his Queen.
But She reassured him of his worth.
he did not argue, as Her word is law.

And so they ruled the Queendom together.
To her subjects, she was just as powerful as ever.
In private, the Queen would confide in her king,
worrying about all the decisions she thought she had done wrong.
With no prying eyes, this allowed the Queen to be weak.
Even a powerful Queen deserves reprieve.
They ruled their Queendom for many decades.

Until old age.
Feeling devotion towards Her king,
She decided they should never be apart.
And so their souls were sealed inside a coin.
Always to be a part of each other.
But something unexpected happened.
Their souls fused.
The Queen side and the king side look the same.
Though, if you spy along the center, there’s a slight imbalance.
So when they meet again,
Whatever the Queen is missing, the king has.
