If You Listen Carefully, You Can Hear Spring in Everyday Ramblings

This is the sidewalk in front of my place this morning. I went out to take this picture with no grippers on my shoes. No grippers! First time in 8 days. Even though the thaw started Tuesday afternoon yesterday was bad out. We had pooled water on top of ice. And… Everyone was out.

There was this idea that it was okay to be out. Schools reopened. All these students will have a lot of make-up work. I was planning an urban hike with Mrs. Sherlock and the Trails Club. I couldn’t even get off my block until the afternoon. I was looking forward to that hike so much, part of the vacation week festivities.

We haven’t had garbage pick-up in 8 days, the mail delivery has been unpredictable to say the least, as well as any kind of other deliveries.

I only had two students last night but it was kind of fun, informal, and we worked with this new material about stabilizing and moving the shoulders through a full range of motion. Mrs. Sherlock told me she experienced and I could see an easy shift in her posture so that was way cool.

And I let go of my need to get my full compliment of Fitbit steps and let her drive me most of the way home. It still wasn’t safe to drive all the way up here last night.

Then I ate everything in sight. It is clear I am sure from reading here that the weather has totally taken over my life and I had been pretending that it wasn’t bothering me that much.

I still had some dark chocolate covered blueberries and date coconut rolls I had picked up as treats in my across town foraging during the aftermath of the storm.

I don’t have those items anymore. Sigh.

Kes is coming up today. They got hit much less seriously down where they are and have been mobile for about four days. Most Honorable even went for a bike ride Monday. We will go provisioning today and she is bringing things as well.

One thing I did notice this morning when vacuuming is that my energy level is good. That not having the drag on it from working this job makes a big difference. In spite of having to reschedule most everything I planned to do this week the fact that I am not recovering from dental surgery (that starts again next week) and not working is huge!

And thrumming underground and reaching towards the sky…spring is really, really on its way! Yes. Yes. Yes.

I’ll be marching Saturday with my peeps from church. That is how I am dealing with the inauguration.
