No Plan in The Song Remembers When

I know I know, another ridiculous story about David Bowie.

The truth is, I feel like his death was such a watershed moment in 2016. It was like some kind of portent about the way things would go. He was a major death, and then seemingly hours later, Alan Rickman passed. It was such a prescient moment and was accurate until the very last moments of the year.

Now, every time I look at or listen to Blackstar (his final album), the weight starts to overwhelm me. It was just an incredible statement and something amazing powerful. Others may have died, but Bowie’s death was orchestrated to such an incredible level… releasing the album on his birthday and then dropping dead days later… then leaving the videos behind as he did. It’s miraculous and startling.

Then, on his birthday and the near-anniversary of his death, he scheduled posthumous music to be released. Even in death, he is teaching us… especially with this song. Just staggering.
