New boss and transitions take up a lot of time. There are still 5 pages of Unread Bookmarks, and I’m only 50% done with my actual “New Year” entry! Plus… since we are spending so much time simply trying to set up the office and get Ran and Jude computers, phones, printers, informational access… I haven’t had time to get the Case Help. And that keeps rolling in. Since Boss was such a useless tool, today an officer approached me about a case from 2011. 2011! Also known as the year I started Law School. But someone was found guilty by a jury of their peers… and then never faced the jail sentence. So… the officers are asking me how to fix that… which of course means I need to ask Ran how to fix that… and then, to prevent it from happening again, the Officers are asking me to “put systems in place” to make sure The New Administration functions properly. Yeah. I’d love to. I’d love to make things work better. The way things are right now sucks and is unsustainable. But we’re not quite in a position right now to make all of that happen. Ran doesn’t even have a working phone, for crying out loud. Bah!
My day?
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Magistrate Court
11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Plea Drafting
1:30 p.m. a complicated mental health case
3:00 p.m. hopefully working on moving forward with some of my questionable cases.
And of course… the bitter cold and howling wind have completely ruined my pain management. So after work (hopefully) I can take a long soak in a HOT bath and try to get some (even one would do) of my body pains to abet momentarily.
Thing is… if we can get our shit together… I could finish this month with ZERO open cases. Honestly. Hell, if I can get Ran’s help this week I could enter into the middle of the month with nothing to do. Fingers crossed. Mostly… fingers crossed that we can actually get Ran and Jude’s offices set up quickly so that we can make strong, confident forward steps SOON.
(and… fingers crossed… I can catch up on Prosebox reading and writing soon).
