Here in Princess Land in Everyday Ramblings

This is the upper part of the park (with the track that they have been working on for months now) a couple of days ago after the thaw. I think there is a stark beauty here.

It is supposed to start snowing again tomorrow mid afternoon. Sigh.

And once again, at least for a day or so the temperature will hover just at freezing. It is like an ice machine. I live in the middle of a big complicated and treacherous ice machine.

The weather is not affecting me. No. Double sigh. I have been provisioning like mad the last few days and am in good shape for a four or five day run at home.

Except that my four-day anatomy workshop starts on Thursday and I really don’t want to miss any of it. I am going to splurge and use Uber to get there and home each evening if I need to. On Saturday there were close to 40 people at my 7:30 AM Weight Watcher’s meeting and everyone but me drove. Getting to a car seems to be doable.

It will be better over in the area where the studio is anyway. It appears to be a slightly warmer microclimate on that side of town.

I worked through a series of balance exercises with my students on Monday in class. Nothing too onerous. Well maybe a couple of things but they were quick and over fast. :) There was a good turnout and with church and tea with Mrs. Sherlock on Sunday it was so nourishing to be back out in the world of people again.

I canceled tomorrow’s class.

I took advantage of a coupon and a sale and bought some fleece-lined pants (designed to be worn under rain pants) online today. Hey, maybe by the time they get here the freeze will be over.

At least the solstice is only a week away.

I am going to take a whole week off in mid January and have hopes to either go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. I am also taking the cats to the vet for their well kitty checkup that week.

I worry a little about Diego, he is such a feisty little guy but because he is a little unusual on the outside and his weight is heavily distributed in his belly I want to keep an eye on him. Just in case he is a little different on the inside too.

My beloved former cat only vet retired last year but has come back to a different clinic to work two days a week and I made the appointment with her.

I am overdue for a haircut because my hair person changed salons a week before my last cut was due and now my hair is a frazzled mess. I am sure it isn’t as bad as it appears to me but I almost went downtown this afternoon to find a salon, any salon, to see if I could get a drop in cut. If it hadn’t been so darn cold out there with the freezing east wind blowing down the Gorge I would have.

Instead I did some judicious trimming and made an appointment with Mrs. Sherlock’s hair person for a week from now.

Even if (and it is a pretty likely if) it snows and ices up tomorrow and getting to the workshop is a hassle as Kes says the good news is that I won’t be at work for five days (yippee!) and I will be fully engaged in something I love.

The studio is in a former Catholic chapel and has gorgeous stained glass windows and beautiful floors.

I heard an interview with an older woman in rural China today who said there were times when she was young when they had one sweet potato for four people to eat sometimes for days.

It is all good. Even when it is bad it is good here in Princess Land.
