Darwin in Adventures in paradise

I’m going to write an entry, but I’m not gonna put photos in here because, let’s face it, I have like a million and the entry will go on forever. So I think I will just organize and upload photos when I get back to Brizzy and put them in a separate entry.
If I’m on your Facebook friends or even more so, your Snapchat, you will have already seen some or a lot of random pics anyway. I went a little bit crazy with adding random shit to ‘My Story’ today (‘luvncraze’ on there btw!)

I knew this was going to be a short trip, but I actually think it’s the perfect amount of time to be here. I’m not going to extend my trip, even though I could by a day. It’s been quite lovely.
The flight here was rather easy, even on TigerAir. There were only a few moments of turbulence and I only felt like I was going to throw up once when the pilot decided to nosedive the plane a little for whatever reason, but thankfully he straightened it back up and my stomach felt normal again. I was very cramped in my seat though with my long legs and I was pleading that the guy in front didn’t recline his seat. He did but only a little bit. He literally wouldn’t have been able to since my lanky legs would have been digging into his spine haha. The flight was 3 hours and 40 minutes long, and I got through it by opening up my laptop and watching a few more episodes of ‘The Real O’Neals’ which is a funny sitcom that Vish got me into. But because I had such little space, I had to tilt the laptop forward so that it would fit. Note to self Matt - buy a decent tablet and transfer your movie files over before longish flights! Unfortunately Tiger only has an entertainment app available on their flights to Bali, and none domestic. I spent the rest of the time playing the one game I have on my phone, Bubble Pilot, but I didn’t beat my personal best score, although I came close in one game. That ended up frustrating me.
Anyway, when the plane landed, I was so excited that I was on Northern Territory land, and even noted as I stepped off the plane steps. It was also nice not to be cramped anymore. I probably should have just paid the extra $30 or whatever for the extra-room seats. It’s pretty cool that they are starting Perth flights from mid-next year. I’d definitely want extra-legroom seats for those, since that is a 5-hour flight each way. We’re a big country!

Anyway, I arrived to my hotel at 1am-ish. I had a private driver who probably ripped me off by charging $55 to take me to the city, but he told me his price so I did have an option I guess. I just assumed I was at the taxi-rank. He went to grab my luggage to put in the boot of his car, but I thought he was going for a handshake, so I extended my hand haha. He shook my hand. Anyway, he was lovely and told me about some of the places I should visit, but he also told me not to go to Kakadu, but only because he sees so many people try to make a day-trip out of it, when really you need at least 2 days to see it. I’d imagine one would, it is pretty popular. Maybe if I come up here another time I might do that one. He told me he’d moved here 2.5 years ago from Adelaide as he had a marriage breakdown etc etc. I just said I was up here visiting because I’d never been.

An older guy named Tim (according to his namebadge) checked me in and told me I had a free room-upgrade (woohoo!) so I was now on the 23rd floor (there’s only 26). I checked into my room but couldn’t see much out of the window at that time of night. I could definitely make out the huge bay though. It looks spectacular, even as I sit here writing this now. I’ll post the pics later.

I was GOING to make a video entry, but I’m so utterly useless at them. I sit there for like 10 seconds looking awkwardly at the camera with no idea what to say. I’m certainly no Youtuber who can just pretend there is an audience through the other side of that camera haha. I’m socially awkward and now I feel like I’ve been put off doing one. What would I say? Maybe I should do the whole ‘ask me questions’ thing like I did a few years ago on OpenDiary. I tend to be better when I have some prompts to guide me.

Anyway, as for Darwin. I head home at midnight tonight, but it’s been pretty awesome. This place actually reminds me a heck of a lot like Toowoomba, the city near my hometown, except that it has a gigantic bay around it. Also Toowoomba gets really cold, but it never gets cold here. It’s been fucking hot alright. I was expecting it to be hot, but holy shit it’s hot LOL. On the first day of me walking around (yesterday) I’m stunned I didn’t look like a lobster afterwards. Today was just as bad and my sunscreen that I had applied had all pooled down in the bend in my elbow pits from the sweat. My shirt was completely stuck to me, drenched, and that was only after 10/15 minutes of walking around in the sun. My water bottle that I’d brought with me from the fridge was hot within the first 5. Luckily I drank most of it.

The people have been friendly. I haven’t really spoken to anyone, but on both mornings walking around, at least 3-4 people all said ‘Good morning’ to me walking past, including some Aboriginal people. There are quite a lot of Aboriginals up here, so it’s like a mix of us intruders and them, but they come across as a lot more friendly than the ones in my city do!

Also, Darwin doesn’t have 4 seasons. It just has ‘Wet’ and ‘Dry’. I read a sign down on the Esplanade that because Darwin is above the Tropic Of Capricorn, the sun rises in different directions depending on the time of the year. I found that confusing. It always rises in the East right? Well here it’s either in the North or the South. Weird. It must just be the positioning of this point on the Earth that we’re standing.

I’ve chatted with a couple of guys on the apps up here but there really isn’t much, as expected. There are a few though and I had a surprisingly hot conversation with a twink who lives on the outskirts of Darwin who has a bigger dick than I do, and basically he gets all the sex in the world here because every gay here wants him/it. LOL. So I guess there are some perks! He was really excited when he saw that I ‘matched’ him in size but unfortunately he said he was busy last night but could do any other night, you know, the nights I’m no longer here.
And then because the conversation with him was so hot, I ended up getting some other guy over to the hotel (who happens to live nextdoor) to blow me whilst I fantasized about the big-dick guy, and then when I told the big dick guy what I’d done, that turned him on even more, so I get the impression he’s big on the dominating guys with his size thing.
I told him to hit me up if he’s ever in Brizzy. Doubt it’ll happen but man, I could definitely have some fun with that guy. I told some of my close friends who were at my birthday last Friday that I’d met my future-husband up here :P

I think I checked out a lot of Darwin that I wanted to. I couldn’t find the museum though. Apparently they have a Cyclone Tracey exibit that sounds really cool that I kinda wanted to go see. Will have to do it next time if it’s still going. I walked through the Botanical Gardens and ended up getting swooped by this bird I’ve never seen before. It wasn’t a magpie OR a plover. At first I thought it was just flying by me, but then it did a hook and came right for me again, and it was a rather large bird. I hid under a tree away from it and it left me alone when I went back the way I came.

The hotel is really cool. I was really hungry when I got here, so ordered room-service. I was told to leaved my plate outside the door, which I did, but two days later, it’s still there haha. I haven’t seen anymore else on my floor the entire time. I feel like I might be the only one up here. They are renovating some of the rooms and it looks like the room I’m in might be one of them because some of the tiles are missing (it’s just concrete), but it’s good enough to stay in and isn’t a big deal. The bed is luxurious with tons of pillows. I’ve been naked pretty much the entire time. I’m up so high that I’m sure no-one in the other hotels around could see me, as they are all lower than this one is.

I’m just staying awake until around just before midnight when I have to catch a cab back to the airport for a 1:30am or something flight, which arrives back in Brisbane around 5:30am. I hope I can try to sleep on the plane, although I might be too cramped to be able to. The good thing about just coming straight back is that I can hopefully just crawl into my bed and relax before heading back to work the next day.

It’s been good! Quiet, relaxing, hot. I can say I’ve been!

Photos and whatever I get up to in the next few hours will probably be in the next entry when I get home.
