Blinded By the Light of the Day in The Stuff That's Not Interesting But Is The Most Interesting Stuff I'll Write

Ever since they changed the settings on this thing, I haven’t been able to look at it. I finally figured out how to turn off all of that obnoxious WHITE glaring at me all the time. Ugh, not happy about it, but whatever, people always shittily trying to update their websites to make them more “user friendly” is just something we have to deal with… I will say this, though, “user friendly” is rarely something with current users in mind, it is always used as a way to attract more people to a site and increase its profitability. They don’t really care about us.
Speaking of people bitching about things, I posted a photo from when I was 4 wearing a bad 80’s Native American headdress thing and someone posted this long rant about cultural appropriation and how people are dying at the pipeline right now and I should be more sensitive. Look, I’m sorry that you’re offended by a photograph taken thirteen years before you were born in 1987, but shut the fuck up. Never mind the fact that in the photograph with me is my grandfather, whose mother was Cheyenne and that is the headdress she gave to him when he was young, but how about we just stop trying to butt into other people’s business.
When did we start policing everybody? It was explained to me that they’re trying to “shine a light on the dark corners of personal injustice”. I think you’re just trying to be a gossip-y know-it-all cunt. Whatever happened to “you do you” or “do no harm”… Maybe my way of thinking is old school, but I can’t seem to justify going out of your way to belittle someone like that… even if you think what they’re doing is belittling.
Now, I’m not advocating burying your head in the sand and ignoring what’s going on. The problems at the Dakota Access Pipeline are serious and need to be addressed, but your outrage at the brutality they are suffering is convenient and a little late. The problems inherent in this struggle date back many, many years and are more complex than that little meme you posted. In this era, being politically outraged is the currency of caring and the way that one can feel rightfully superior to another. It is the exact same as previous inequalities with one difference, articles are so readily available, with not coherent journalistic credo as to unite them ethically, that people believe reading an article from FreedomNews dot org is the same as having gone to university for several years studying the social and economic problems that have plagued indigenous peoples in the modern era.
They are so preoccupied with being bright shining examples that they don’t even realize which way is up and they’re blinded by the light of the day.
