Icy blast......with balls in blackpropaganda

While the south of England is getting 95 mph gales and lots of rain we are getting frost. Lots of it. Looks like it was -4 C in the night and still hovering between -1 and -2. This is highly unusual - but the fast there was a shower earlier this morning has not helped - we now have pavements with black ice - and very dodgy roads. Over the years they have taken out paving stones for the pavements and replaced them with tarmac - cheaper and easier to maintain. However when wet or icy the tarmac becomes a skating rink.
I took SW.. out earlier - and will pick her up in a minute - and travelling in second gear all the way - hoping there were no daft buggers coming at speed. At the roundabout I saw a cyclist come off his bike as it slid under him - he seemed OK - but who comes out for their Sunday bike ride in conditions like this. he was very lucky no one was behind him.
Of course this is not helped by a cold I have developed and started coming out yesterday - I think I got about thee hours sleep last night between blowing my nose and having a pee. So I guess today will be a day of lying a round - and I might even venture into bed for a couple of hours this afternoon.
