Today I’m thankful for poetry and beer. Let me explain. No. That will take too long. Let me summarize.... :)

I went to an open mic night tonite for my college’s literary arts journal. I was a co-editor on it my last few years of college (the second time around), and I’m still friends with the faculty advisor, and I like poetry. So I try to go to the open mics when possible. It also helps that they’re at MC, where I spend most of my free time anyways.

So tonite my friend was the featured reader. There were only a handful of other readers, so it was a short open mic. But that’s ok cuz I was only half in the mood to be there (I’m really in to the book I’m reading right now and want to finish it for book club on Saturday!)

Anyhow. The poets were ok. A lot of “I’m lost, i’m broken, this is the real me” kind of college angst poems. Which is fine....I have written and read many of the same myself. But now that I’m older and in a different phase…I dunno, I was just like “Sometimes being opaque is better than being transparent when it comes to poetry” hehe/ Then I realized I was being judgy and I stopped.

Afterwards, PT (my friend who was the featured reader), and JVM and a few other guys went out for one guys birthday. He’s 68. Last month he ran a marathon. Eeeeesh. I hope I can still walk when I’m 68 let alone be doing marathons. He’s a cool guy and is responsible for 100% of the magic brownies I’ve had in my life. LOL.

So. The beer part…I am not actually a beer drinker. But I am thankful for the brew pub that we went to cuz it was across the street and it was a nice time with nice friends.

Now I need to cuddle my puppy and sleeeeep!
