A Formerly Normal Sized Person in Everyday Ramblings

On Tuesday UPS sent me an email that a package would be delivered between 10AM and 2PM so I was ready. My new iPhone was on its way. At 9:45 my doorbell rang and it turned out to be an Amazon delivery that included the case for the phone and some screen protectors.

About an hour and a half later (I was hugely relieved that a manager I was scheduled to train had rescheduled to a different day at the last minute) the doorbell rings. I am on it but by the time I get outside there is no delivery person or package.

I looked out towards the street and saw the UPS truck getting ready to pull out and okay I admit it…I yelled, Hey! Hey! Luckily I got the tall young man’s attention and I said in exasperation… like you just rang the doorbell and ran....

He yelled back, no it’s there, but it wasn’t.

He at least recognized my distress and stopped the truck and came back up the path, he had put the package on a strut on the inside of the overhanging awning about 7 feet up in the air. When he pointed it out I said, “I can’t reach that!” and so he grabbed it with his long arms and handed it to me and said there had been complaints of packages going missing…

Sigh. It really didn’t occur to him that a formerly normal sized person could not reach up there.

After work I had to go grocery shopping and was then planning on going across town to a “Nature Night” all about owls. In the meantime there was an intense downpour.

By the time I got back from shopping I was toast.

This is where a close friend who is interested in birds would come in handy. Or a boyfriend. Or a Smart car rental. I thought about hiring an Uber car or taking a cab. It was a long bus ride.

In the end I stayed home and got my phone activated, which took a couple of very focused hours.

The instructions about adding the SIM Card were not helpful and at one point I dropped it on the floor. Luckily by then I had banished the cats to the other room. Of course they wanted to “help”.

And who knew you have to make your Bluetooth devices “Discoverable”?

The phone is small but very powerful and how cool is it to have all day battery life? Oh yeah.

Tonight there is yet another meeting at the church. It is becoming clear that I am not going to be able to teach there affordably after the first of the year so next step is to meet with the studio people.

Double sigh…

I surely haven’t a clue how this is going to work out.
