Survey time! in The Day To Day Ramblings

A random survey because I don't have much else to say. :)

Who is your favorite person to travel with? Definitely Rob. I have lived in the same 10 square miles my entire life and am easily overwhelmed in new places, especially large cities. I pretty much just shut down and feel panicked. He, however, takes adventure as a challenge and holds his head high and loves to explore and take me with him and push me past my boundaries and somehow I always end up being thankful he did. I appreciate that he travels this way and that he is endlessly patient with me, knowing that every single time we leave my 10 square miles of comfort that I will kick and scream but ultimately love it.

Does making a good list ever feel like an accomplishment in itself? Nothing better than a well made list. Especially when you can add things you already did that day to it and check those off. Ending it with "make to do list" is especially satisfying. ONE DONE. Boom.

Is your name frequently mispronounced? No but I get called Cindy, Kathy, Chelsea and Kelly constantly - especially when I answer a phone and don't o-ver-pro-nun-cee-ate my syllables. Now my 17 level three word maiden last name? Yeah, that was a disaster.

Can you sleep with socks on? The bigger question is can I sleep without socks on. Sometimes I sleep on our heated mattress pad between my 80 pound furry dog and my big sleepy husband while wearing knee high socks, yoga pants, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. My body sucks at being warm.

What is the best quote you've seen lately?

Do you like to be the one who holds the tickets (for airplanes, movies, etc.)? Yes! It could be the Type A in me but if I have them I know they're not lost. My husband is great for making plans, I'm great for staying organized while we're out traveling.

Do you unpack when you arrive at your destination or just live out of a suitcase? I have to unpack. Even if only for two or three days I need to find a dresser or a closet and lay my clothes out and then I can breathe. Just to have a little space that is all ours and we can do with it what we want is so soothing. Living out of a suitcase is my own personal hell.

Are they still there, those ascending horizontal lines that marked your growth as a child up a wall or a door? Yes! Thanks to my parents still living in my childhood home, all my little inch marks from my birthdays growing up are still on my childhood door. I've grown considerably since leaving home but always fun to look back at the passage of time through my height. :)

Do you always shut the door every time I use the bathroom when you're not home alone? So my parents routinely peed with the door open. Weird, I know. But somehow it wore off on me and it wasn't until I started living with boyfriends that I figured out how weird it was. I still have to actively work to remember to shut the door if Rob is home and I'm just peeing. Now doing #2 is different and definitely shut the door for that but, weird as it may sound, I could totally have a conversation with Rob in the room while I'm peeing and not be weirded out. I think that could also be because I routinely talk to patients who are on bedpans or sitting on the toilet in the ICU and I don't bat an eye.

What is your favorite piece of clothing? It's a toss up....while I love my yoga pants and any form of cozy comfy snuggly loungewear, I also am loving a pair of stretch extra tall skinny jeans I bought with friends on impulse last summer. Perfect length, perfect cut, dark wash, look great with everything, high enough waist panel that it flattens out my tummy...delightful. So I suppose it depends on my mood. Both are well worn and well loved!

Do you own a bathrobe? Indeed I do. A fuzzy fleece-y mint colored one from an aunt who I abhor normally but who gave me this as a random gift a few Christmases ago and hit the nail on the head. I will wear this one until there are holes in it!

Would you rather drive or be driven? If I'm with Rob I prefer he drives. It's one of the few times when we're both away from electronics and distractions and can just talk with one another. If I'm going somewhere with a friend or a parent, I'd rather drive. I think I'm a pretty safe driver and enjoy the control of making sure we're on time.

Do you match and ball socks or just dump them, en masse, into the drawer? I do all of the laundry in our house (per both of our preferences as I don't mind it and he loathes it) so I match it as it's easier all around. Rob is the king of All The Socks as he has tan socks, brown socks, black socks, navy socks, wool socks, business socks, ankle socks, workout socks, white cotton socks, holiday socks, hiking socks, etc. If I don't pair them, disaster ensues in our little dresser. I personally only have running socks, volleyball knee high socks, compression stockings for work and then a handful of fun/party socks for holidays or sports teams. Not nearly as confusing!

Will you agree to let a lover use your toothbrush? Why or why not? Sure, wouldn't phase me in the least. Not sure Rob would agree but if I make out with you and put other parts of your body in my mouth (sorry but it's true) then why would swapping spit while you're actively cleaning your mouth be gross? Considering Rob won't share a shower towel though doubtful this will be an issue for us soon.
