Focusing on the Positive Close to Home in Everyday Ramblings

We had a gorgeous dry day today. It was a joy to be out in it. The mountains were visible and covered in fresh snow.
Kitten has arrived. Pictures will follow. He may end up being Oliver, or Kit, or Joe. It is not up to me. But he is a healthy happy little guy and a joy to be around. They are going to give it a bit more time before Jack and the kitten are sharing space but they are already smelling each other under the door and an exchange of things that smell like the other cat are in progress.
Kes had her first cataract surgery this morning. It went well and she is relieved it is over. No matter how many people one knows that have been through it, it still has to be nerve racking when it is one’s own eye.
My stitches are loose. My dentist, who I saw today, says that is fine. To just hang on for a few more days, the healing is going well.
I am struggling though with not feeling full and over compensating by eating too much.
Sigh. After all the dental work I finally got my weight back down during this extended almost three month chance to heal and all of a sudden I am back with the cool Chocolate Almond Dream and macaroni and cheese.
Work is intense and Saint Joe is off to Hawaii next week. I am happy for him but anxious about all that needs to be done.
Now that I know I’ll need a fourth implant next year I can budget for it and Kes and Most Honorable might front me the money for a new laptop, which I need. This not going into debt is a good thing but the sense of depriving myself constantly of comforts is getting pretty old when I am working all this overtime and teaching on top of that.
Oh and my hair person canceled my next appointment because she is moving salons. I don’t really like the salon I have been going to but it is a block from my grocery store and convenient. Mrs. Sherlock has a guy near her that she is going to that she likes a lot that is significantly less expensive. But he is an hour walk away.
I taught material I have only taught a few times before last night that involves a specific breathing technique. It is about working with digestion and it is very effective. My class was big and sort of unwieldy and I was a little off. I had done the practice completely on Sunday and prepped extensively but I need to practice more teaching breathing techniques. You can’t do them when you are teaching them!
Because then you can’t talk.
Oh well. One of my students exclaimed on the way out that she was so relaxed. That is music to my ears and good for her digestion. :) But I know there is room for improvement, lots of room for improvement in my teaching presentation. I need to practice that more and maybe take some additional training.
Not that I don’t have plenty of training currently available.
And oh serious eek, I just took a peek at the election results. I wish I had not done that.
I have a feeling we are all about to tilt in a very different direction.
Good thing I have all these yogic tools to help with anxiety. It looks like I may need to really employ them over the next four years.
