I painted my nails in the first time in....over a year. Maintaining painted nails is really hard in veterinary medicine so I rarely paint them because I feel they’ll get ruined as soon as I use some rubbing alcohol to draw blood or place an IV catheter.
Anyway, I’m gong to enjoy them for this long weekend I have. They’re gold and I keep getting distracted by them, much like a magpie.
Last night was lovely. The cheese I got were delicious! We ate so much of it and, by the time the pizza arrived, we were pretty much full. We didn’t even get to the pumpkin pie I brought home! Plus, Genevieve made some of her delicious chocolate chip cookies, so there was no shortage of dessert.
We just ate, hung out, and talked. Kat, who is very accident prone, told us about her recent trip to London, where she broke her foot, sprained the ankle on the opposite leg and broke her tailbone. Her saga of trying to get home in that condition was hilarious.
We also discussed dead pets. Her dog Sam was diagnosed with lymphoma two summers ago. She put him through chemotherapy twice. He was doing very poorly 2 weeks ago, brought him in to emergency, and he was euthanized. They offered hospitalization and she considered it, but after spending more time with him in the exam room, she decided on euthanasia. Based on what I know of his history, what was going on with him, and my professional experience both in practice and at school, I truly believe she made the right decision. Sam was a very nervous dog and there was a good chance that, even with emergency treatment, he would have died within hours. I hate when animals die in the hospital without owners present. It sounded like her euthanasia experience went well. He was sleeping in her lap when they gave the injection and it went smoothly. I think that’s the best death a loved one can hope for. I hope our conversation helped her feel a little bit better.
On a much lighter note, I’m going to see Australian male strippers tonight! Hahahahaha! I am so amused by this. I’m going with a fun group of ladies, so it should be an interesting night :P
