How Wet Are You? in Everyday Ramblings

This is the mix of leaves outside the windows of my bedroom/office. Yesterday after the heavy wet atmospheric fog burned off the river and surrounds we had a light sunny day. I walked with Frida the poodle (who I have not seen for 5 weeks) and Mrs. Sherlock in a big loop around the river after my Weight Watcher’s meeting.

The city coming into view was spectacular but I didn’t have a decent camera with me. She took some shots with her iPhone. I need to replace my poor old Galaxy. The battery won’t last more than a few hours now and I carry and external one. Everything has been so focused on the dental work there has not been a lot of updating going on around here.

The dental work starts up again for the home stretch this next week.

I am trying to imagine what it will be like to have new teeth in my mouth and no more major expenditures. You never know what happens next, the nuance of the unfolding next thing.

One thing I do know is that everybody I have talked to here in Oregon this weekend got their ballot (we are a vote by mail state) and did not hesitate but sat down and filled it out and returned it within hours of receipt. Including me.

I bet we are going to set some sort of record for early returns.

Get-the-darn-thing-over-with!!! Bleh.

It has been such an extended an unpleasant election cycle.

Kes came up yesterday to get some ham bones for soup and to pick up my “stuff” for our four days at the beach next weekend. We had lunch and played with the cats and went grocery shopping together after a little meal planning. It was fun.

We bought a second cat bed. One of them can sleep on it, or it puffs up and one of them can sleep in it. Carlo got in it and then later I moved it in the bedroom and covered it with the towel I have been keeping on the bed and he was basically on it for the rest of the night.

Now Diego is all curled up on it and Carlo is not happy about that. He tried to pull his brother out by the scruff of the neck. I intervened.

I received an email yesterday from my coordinator at the church that there was going to be a dessert get together this coming Thursday with our senior minister and the Adult Ed teachers and Program committee.

That is the day I leave for the beach. So I can’t make my case for keeping the yoga class at the church. But a couple of my students (very influential ones) wrote a heartfelt email to both the senior minister and the Chairman of the Board and sent it yesterday.

Kes points out something that I also believe is true, that it will be more effective if the plea to keep the class in the community comes from the students. Because really, this is what the class is about anyway.

Mrs. Sherlock wants to participate in the Philosophy Café and has some ideas for people to invite. I think I will try to get it started in the winter after the craziness of the holidays subsides…

The rain will be back today. I am so grateful we had a bit of a break. The joke around here lately has been…on a scale of 1 to 10 how wet are you?
