I can’t afford to retire. Not really. Not unless I die about 10 years from now.
But I just don’t give a shit about my work. I’m in the service industry, I put on a suit and make sure that PowerPoint presentations are served up at more or less the right temperature and that no one gets ill from consuming them.
Thats more or less what I do.
Every now and again I work on something cool, a festival or an art installation. Just often enough, I suppose, to keep me engaged.
We’re off to Spain in a couple of days, we’ll be there til February or so, earlier if the house in England sells. I’ve got got a few conferences over the next few months, enough to pay a few bills.
I’m not going to do that though, I’m going to get a motorbike. It’s been a while since I did something stupid. The last stupid, self-indulgent thing I did was probably… buying my last motorbike.
Feels like time for another.

There are days lately I most certainly consider doing a similar thing. Riding through the eye of the storm into a sense of freedom sounds very appealing.

Funny thing, that is always the way I put it. Time to do something stupid. Feel the urge myself.
