A Painterly Picture and Algorithims in Everyday Ramblings

Late yesterday I had my skin check. It has been three years since they removed the malignant melanoma and I am all clear. Clear enough that I don’t have to get naked and checked so often. My next appointment is next September! Of course I have to do my own checks and call right away if I see anything suspicious but this is a big deal for me.
Afterwards I was supposed to go over to Mrs. Sherlock’s house across town for dinner and to meet her two visiting friends and do a Tarot reading for them.
I am sure I would have enjoyed this outing a great deal if I hadn’t been so fried. I was out three evenings in a row and then this late absolutely has to be done right this minute (even though we have had the paperwork for six months) audit request came in from on high at work a few days ago and I thought I was going to lose my mind trying to figure out how to get accurate numbers out of the system I am responsible for.
Nimrod was not happy with my “I can’t do that in the timeframe allotted” answer.
Mrs. Sherlock on occasion bails on plans we have and I always do understand as she only does it when she has a good reason and so I was so glad she understood and gave me an out last night.
I wrapped up in warm sweats and a blanket and with Carlo listened to an iRest breath awareness meditation and promptly fell asleep. I slept ten hours. The cats were a little confused but accommodating.
Today things are much better. There were also some technical issues afoot having to do with a cold fusion restart yesterday at work that were, umm, stressful. All of that has blessedly been resolved.
I was washing things last weekend once I got the new dryer and had time and as I was looking at all the little balls of gray cat hair that were clinging to my cream colored towels I had this inspiration…I could buy gray towels.
What a concept!
I have every towel I have ever owned and still possess deployed somewhere for my towel crazy cats. The green ones, and gray blue ones are best at not showing hair. I do wash them often but…
Anyway I splurged and ordered two different types of new towels; the last two batches I bought at Costco and they are good but don’t wear forever. Yesterday while I was home for lunch UPS came with the package (or at least they said they did) but did not ring the doorbell and left a slip instead saying the package would be available for pickup at this totally inconveniently located store.
They did this once before and I called and they did re-deliver that package. When I called yesterday (before I passed out) I got a recording that said I could pay $6 to have them re-deliver the package!!!
Instead I went online and signed up for something called UPS My Choice and asked them to redeliver and they did not charge me. We will see if I actually get the box.
I understand that the home delivery market is extremely competitive right now but charging $6 for a re-delivery is ridiculous. And I was home! Grrr.
It kind of reminds me of Donald Trump’s business practices. And in a weird way the way sharecropping used to work here in The States after the slaves were freed. I do not like exploitive business practices, thank you very much. That is why Facebook has me categorized as “Very Liberal” in its section on info it has gathered about me to target advertising and to prioritize my News Feed.
