this is a teset

So it’s like this.

I decided to call my internet provider and see if I was totally nuts or not.

I’ve been on the net most of the day. I now have Friday’s off work again. Soon to have all days off work, but that is another story.

I have been able to download whatever I wanted to. I watched Chanel #5 commercials and Karl Lagerfeld movies on yourtube. I chatted with people. I watched stuff. I read a Paris Review interview with John LeCarre. I facebooked and I checked around Prosebox. I did all that stuff.

What I could not do was open 750words. I also could not save what I wrote here. I could not get my webcam to broadcast. As some - or all - of you may recall I have been having all these same problems - intermittently - for at least a month. My son has been having them too.

So today I called my internet provided who advised me to all tech support. Tech support is based in the US and I did not have to wait to talk to them. Two pluses. I was advised to bypass the router and plug the modem into the computer. My computer does not have a phone jack but Jim’s does. So I plugged it into Jim’s computer. I was able to go to 750words and sign in and leave a short whatever. And I was able to come here and leave the cute little entry shown above.

And now I’ve been able to type what’s above.

The tech support guy told me to leave this one hooked up and see if it continues to work. I asked him how and where to get a new router. He said they are easily available. So maybe I will just do that.

Meanwhile I am typing at an unusual angle and it’s not a lot of fun.

But....

Here is the LeCarre interview from 1996 by George Plimpton. It’s very good.

Talk later. I love you all greatly. Life is grand. I can now go wash dishes.
