Don't know where to start in At the foot of the hill

There is so much going on around here I feel like I’m caught in a whirlwind. Don’t know where to start.
Bad stuff. Good stuff.
Guess I’ll start with what’s the heaviest on my mind this morning.
Papa’s brother-in-law is being laid to rest today in Wyoming. I feel terribly guilty that we aren’t going to be there to support his sister. The thing is, Papa still isn’t supposed to drive. Since his accident in July, the doc says they have to make sure he doesn’t have any more seizures…if that is what it was. No proof of that. And Papa says I can’t drive all the way up there. (I think I could, but he says no.) Anyhow, back to BIL. He has been in a nursing home for a few years suffering from Parkinson’s and dementia, had a fall earlier this summer, broke a hip and never recovered.
Then, we have a memorial service here in town on Sunday for my cousin. Other relatives are coming in and we made plans to spend time with them either tomorrow or Monday.
A couple of weeks ago, I felt a little short of breath so dug out my oxygen meter to see. The oxygen showed to be good…but my heart rate was really high. Watched it for days and it remained quite high (for me) so Papa insisted that I make an appointment with my cardiologist. Of course he sent me for a stress test. Did that and got a good report. Will visit with the doctor again in a couple of weeks.
Since he can’t drive, I have to do all that. It’s no big deal really, and I am getting more comfortable driving the new car. And he’s getting a little more comfortable (I hope!) with my driving.
Good stuff: Son Michael had his big release party. We had tons of fun and he sold a bunch of CD’s and picked up a couple of gigs. His CD is appropriately named “After All These Years” (available on Amazon and the usual internet outlets in CD or ED, if you’re interested). He started down this path as a much younger man but took time out to have a normal life with his wife and kids. Now the kids are out of the nest, the wife is settled and happy with her career and he has a “real job”, but seems like the time might be right. He’s basically just having fun.
More good stuff: Daughter and hubby are coming for a long weekend the middle of next month. We’ll meet in a mountain town for a night and day taking in the autumn colors, watching the elk and enjoying the Rocky Mountains. Then we’ll have a day in the city, and imbibing in beer and music as Mike and his band entertain at a craft brewery not far from here.
If you’re still with me, thanks for your interest. This is way too long. I hope I will be writing again soon.
