Profanity just means
dealing with the profane
dealing with the possible divine
dealing with holy.

Don’t let ‘em tell you
you don’t have the right
to wrestle with profanity
to struggle with whatever
may or may not be behind
the mechanisms of space and time.
Don’t let them tell you
you’re too low or crude or little
to exchange words with the gods
with God or
whatever it is you call
the Great Is-Or-Is-Not
that may or may not be.

They’d make the things that
every life is tied to in some
incontrovertable very real way
pissing and shitting and fucking
the building blocks of this life
something you have to hide away
so they can rule over you with shame
they’ll tell you talking about
they’ll tell you that doing your
pissing and shitting and fucking
they’re all necessary evils at best
that they’re all wrong just the same
but pissing and shitting and fucking
are some of life’s essential parts
they’re some of living’s holy parts
really pissing shitting and fucking
are the very most profane.

They’re doing this to cut you off
from yourself from your real life
to sell you toothpaste and cars
to sell you wars and the suppression of natural highs
to sell you another round of Sunday tithes
you need to know
though it might sound fucking odd
profanity is your intersection with God
and don’t let them take it away.
Dabble in the profane.
