Here we are at Labor Day and almost the first day of school. Kayla and Timmy have ninth grade orientation on Wednesday and classes start Thursday. Aaron starts sixth grade on Wednesday. My babies are growing up. The twins will be attending a coed Catholic high school. This did not end up being nearly as expensive as I thought it would be, as they were able to get scholarships that covered a lot of the tuition. Aaron will be attending a Catholic school that goes through grade 8.

I think they are ready to go back to school. They had a good summer but they were getting bored the last few weeks. The twins did some babysitting this summer. There are a couple of neighbor kids and kids from our church they have been babysitting.

Aaron’s school day will be from 8:00 to 2:35. Timmy and Kayla will go to school from 8:40 to 3:10. Then Timmy will have soccer practice and Kayla will have diving practice until 4:30. They have been practicing in the mornings for about two weeks.

Kayla and Timmy still seem to be a bit young for their age to me. Their birthdays are in May but my due date for them was in late summer, so by that measure they are among the younger kids in their class.

It is significant for us that today is Labor Day. My mom passed away on Memorial Day, so this is the unofficial end of our first summer without her. The kids have been seeing a counselor to help them deal with her loss. She had dementia prior to her passing and in many ways was not herself for the last year.
