They’ve tied down our internet access at work so tightly now I can’t access anything. Except, it transpires, prosebox. So in celebration of this, here is a survey. I had to do something in protest…
1) Who is your favourite musician?
It would have to be a jazz or blues artist. I saw Dave Brubeck live once, he was pretty awesome. Maybe John Lee Hooker.
2) What is your least favourite dessert?
Not keen on things with oodles of cream.
3) What kind of pants are your favourite to wear?
Is this pants as in trousers, or pants as in underwear? I’m going to assume underwear since I am British. I’m currently going commando - judge me. Wednesday is commando day, but I have extended it to Thursday this week.
4) Where was the last place you had a nice dinner at?
I made grilled trout last night at home, does that count?
5) Give me a line of lyrics from one of your favourite songs?
Splendour in silver dress, the last thing she possessed, the world was hers and then, it fell apart again.
6) Do you have a favourite TV show of all time?
I have so little time for TV these days, but I do love Walking Dead.
7) What kind of vehicle do you drive?
Boring, but practical, Vauxhall Zafira
8) How old will you be in 2020?
53 (mentally and emotionally still in my 20s)
9) Where will your next vacation be?
I just got back from Ireland. I also spent a couple of weeks in Taiwan in April. I think we’ll visit Taiwan again next year at Easter, and maybe we will stop at Hong Kong or Singapore on the way.
10) What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Honestly can’t remember. I think the breakfast news programme this morning when I was eating breakfast
11) What is on the walls in the room you’re in?
I’m at work. There are whiteboards everywhere with due dates on, and a helpful notice by the door reminding me to switch my monitor off before leaving.
12) Last time you swam in a pool?
Couple of weeks ago at the local pool, nudist night every other Saturday.
13) What did you do for your last birthday?
My birthday was last month. My wife and family have worked out exactly how much fuss to make. I’m not good at getting older. The boy made some chocolate things and cake. It was nice.
14) Where did you grow up?
Born and bred in South East UK, Surrey. My family is from Bromley, but I was born in Woking.
15) What is your favourite ice cream flavour?
Maybe rum and raisin.
16) Best and worst restaurant you’ve been to?
There is a Mongolian restaurant in Taipei I really love. They bang a huge gong when you walk in. I can’t think of any I loath. I’m not keen on burger places.
17) Do you plan on having a lot of children?
We have one. Would have liked more, but it didn’t happen for us. The one we have is wonderful however.
18) Are you an affectionate person?
I think I am. I’m emotional.
19) Do you prefer the beach or mountains?
I’m a beach boy. Mountains are nice, but beaches are the best.
20) What kind of smoothie sounds really good right now?
Mango maybe. Not sure I’m really craving smoothies though.
21) Last time you stayed in a hotel?
Had to spend one night in a hotel in Ireland because our ferry crossing was cancelled a week ago.
22) Favourite kind of cake?
My wife makes a very good chiffon cake. I do like that. Mother makes a good fruit cake.
23) Name something that you miss?
I miss my dad. I miss the buzz of living in the city.
24) Have you ever been to another country?
Yes, love travel.
25) Top 3 places to visit?
I lived in Taipei for many years and it would be on my list of places to visit. I go back often. It’s a second home. I visited New York a couple of times in the 90s, and I’d like to go back. I’d also like to go back to Japan because I have only visited once and we were too busy to do the tourist thing.
26) What is something you’re proud of?
I try hard to be a good father and husband and I hope I can be proud of that.
27) Are you a crafty person?
Little bit, I’m currently making a ukulele.
28) What kind of shows are you not interested in?
Reality tv. I just can’t see the attraction.
29) What is your favourite part of school?
I was a maths and science guy at school, and then engineering at college and university. I didn’t really discover art and literature until much later.

Swim a bit, bicycle. I’m not big on exercise.

Is it a chore if you like doing it? I like fixing broken stuff. I replaced the heating element in the washing machine and made it work again. Is that a chore?
33) What kind of animals do you have?
Used to have a dog. I would like to keep chickens but my wife says we’re not allowed anything that eats or shits.
34) What does your water bottle look like?
I don’t have one. Should I get one?
35) What do you hate to drink, or refuse to drink?
I’d make a lousy pirate because I hate rum. I also got really drunk on Tequila, Vodka, and Red bull once. I am not doing that again.
36) One of your favourite colour combinations?
I used to think the old JPS Lotus F1 cars looked good in black and gold.
37) Where do you buy your socks?
Marks and Spenser. I was horrified to discover I had odd socks on yesterday afternoon, and it of course means there is at least one more pair of odd socks in my sock drawer, which is also bothering me.
38) What is the best part of your birthday month besides your birthday?
It’s in the summer. I wouldn’t change my birthday month for anything. I also always had my birthday in the summer holidays when I was at school.
39) What is your favourite Pokemon?
I don’t know any. I did have an 11 year old explain to me the complexities of Pokemon Go the other day. I’m not taken by it.
40) What is your favourite Italian food?
Risotto.
41) Favourite superhero?
Is Harley Quinn a super hero? I’ve been reading the comics for years. Maybe Batman. I like that he’s deeply flawed.

I wear a gold wedding ring. I think I like silver. I don’t know.
43) What is your dream car?
I love jaguars. I’ve had three. I suppose the E-Type would be the classic. I love the new F-Type though. I think I’d have an F-Type. You’d be too scared to use an E-Type wouldn’t you.

Yes, I think I drink too much at work.
49) What is your favourite kind of tea?
Earl Grey is nice, but proper English breakfast tea for breakfast.
50) What is your favourite flower?
Lobelia and Campanula
