I’m not posting this photo on Facebook, because I don’t like how I look in it, but I AM happy that I got my haircut today :) I’m sure I’ll look better when I style it my way tomorrow, but I’m just leaving it how the hairdresser did it for now.
I look exhausted, and I am. No-one needs to see that, except you guys :P
Work’s been tiring! Holy COW management were all in a cunt of a mood today! Holy Jesus Mary and Joseph. And it was all because of the Area Manager being in. Didn’t bother me. We’re all only human. I just did my best, as I always do.
I did find it interesting to find out our store is apparently up 12% on last year. That’s huge. Could be a variety of factors. I’m putting down ‘shit actually being available to purchase on show’ on account of me working as one of them :P
And, of course, the chick I work with on Fridays called in sick again, and it was my shorter day, so the manager was by herself all arvy. Typical. I said to one of my workmates, “She can’t have any sick pay left, seriously.”
I’ve applied for one Saturday off next month because I actually want to be able to go to pride and I haven’t in many years now and I want to make a day of it.
We did have a shoplifter in today though. The store manager wanted me to stand up the front with my grocery manager because he wanted someone tall. I may be tall, but I hardly think I’m intimidating! My manager said to me, “Have you come to help stop me from getting punched in the face?” LOL.
Anyway, some tradie guy was shoving underwear and socks and anything he could get his hands on in his pockets and down his pants.
My manager was saying to me, ‘Why do they have to ruin it for everyone?’ (because she’s just sick of shoplifters, especially 30-something year-old tradies who you would think wouldn’t need to shop-lift).
He apparently put them back when he realized we were onto him, but my manager said she was gonna pull him up anyway and threaten him with the police etc.
I managed to get out of standing up the front with the manager because I had a deadline to beat (I need to get my scans done by 9am and it was 8:40am when this happened.) I’m not sure what the outcome of that guy was though. I did come across the 1l bottle of juice he’d downed and stashed on the shelf though. Asshole.
We’re across the road from a school too, so that period before 9am is a hot-spot one to keep a lookout for the five-finger-discounters. I unfortunately like to think most kids aren’t completely stupid though, and I’m not always right.
Anyway, I had my hair appointment straight after work. I just went to the gym to change out of my work-shirt and grabbed a drink before heading there. My hairdresser this time was a different chick from last time and she was so cool! Very genuine and friendly and made me feel at ease. She was even a little bit of a flirt I thought, noting that she loved my height as I had to get scoot down in the chair so that I could reach the basin for her to wash my hair. Pretty sure she picked up on that I was gay though. I mean, c’mon, really?
I thought she did a really good job of my hair and did everything I asked her to. She asked if I got my eyebrows done and I was like, “Are they that bad, are they?” Anyway, she fixed up a few stray hairs there, but I should get a proper wax done one day. I absolutely love guys who get their brows done because it changes the whole aesthetic of their face for the better, and I’m a typical male in the way that I never do my brows but I like the idea of getting them done. I did get them done once but it was basically to make them not look like caterpillars rather than a stylized version. A male with stylized brows in the state I live in is very brave, given there’s still a lot of homophobic fuckwits out there.
Speaking of, my department manager was bitching to me about a customer and called the shorts that he was wearing ‘faggy.’ I was taken a-back. I’m openly gay at work, and he just used the word ‘fag’ in a sentence right to my face. I thought about pulling him up on it and stewed on it for a few minutes, but then decided to let it go. It wasn’t directed as a hateful word toward me, like it often has been growing up, but rather describing another otherwise straight guy/customer who had annoyed him. I just wish people were raised differently to not use derogatory speech in everyday sentences, but hey, that’s wishful thinking.
I actually think he may have realized what he’d said though because he was acting a little different toward me afterward, like being a little more careful with his words. Not sure, but it seemed like it.
Then after I was done at the hairdressers, I was waiting to cross at the lights to go home when I saw this girl seated on the other side of the road, pointing, like right at me. And then I saw her two friends obviously lean over to look at what she was pointing at.
Maybe it was just me, but were chicks actually flirting with me today? That literally NEVER happens. It was probably some hot macho straight guy standing behind me that she was pointing at or something lol. Either way, I had to walk right past them, and I’m sure one they saw me mincing past that any form of attraction toward me would have left the building :P
