So Tired in Meeting Mr. Jesus Christ

I am plug wore out after staying up way too late last night (read 5:30 a.m.) watching a movie and being woke up early by a phone call and then getting far more exercise than I intended, which was basically none. This snow storm and cold snap has brought me back to the realities of living in Michigan and being a home owner. I've taken for granted living in the SE part of the state after living 30 years in the northwest U.P., allowing it to minimize my preparedness and dim my knowledge about cold weather.

Consequently I spent better than an hour this evening out in the below zero windswept weather shoveling snow that was no less than two foot deep everywhere, drifts worse in parts. I had intended to let this slide until it warms up in a few days but I had to clear the snow from the road to the house and all around the house to gain access to the underside of the trailer. My pipes froze up and I had a company that was supposed to come about 8 PM to get under the house and find out if anything had burst, fix what needs fixing and get my water running again.

I literally was reaching for the door nob to get back in the house when my phone rang. The fix-it company was calling to cancel. Their truck got stuck in the snow when leaving a job to come here and then their engine died. There are so many places the city still hasn't gotten plowed out. My heart goes out to the person who was stranded. This is life-threatening weather we are having.

Anyway, tomorrow between ten and noon they expect someone to be here to start working on my house. I'm praying it is something a good blast of heat will fix, two or three salamanders would probably do the job in a reasonable time. My definition of reasonable at this point falls next to dollar signs. The rates these guys charge is frightening. If God continues working my financial life the way He has been then the money I made from selling Hooptie will now go to fix the pipes. Money in. Money out.

The up side in all of this is I was otherwise well prepared for the unexpected. I keep a large supply of water stashed in the house and I have been building my ready to eat foods so I haven't gone without. My years of four season camping with Ryan's Boy Scout troop also are paying off. The five day stretch at Christmas without electricity was a wake up call to get myself and house prepared.

Well it is an early morning for me tomorrow and I am already very tired. Gonna grab a heat pack for my back and get to bed.
