The Sweetest in The Day To Day Ramblings

A few weeks ago Rob came home from work heavy shouldered, sad & withdrawn. Over dinner I asked him what was wrong and he proceeded to tell me he had been told he would need to fire one of his coworkers after the holidays. While Rob is not close with this man, my husband is new to the management role at his company & this would be his first time being involved in an employee termination. He also has no ill will towards this man who he has worked next to for two years and Rob, being the empathetic and kind man he is, was already feeling for his coworker.

Ever since then he has been randomly bringing this up. All weekend he dreaded going in yesterday & having this meeting. I kissed him goodbye & wished him well, asking him to text or call if he wanted to talk during the day or if he needed support.

Well he came home & rehashed all of it with me. It went ok, no fireworks, but the man almost took it too calmly. I guess this coworker alluded to 'coming back soon' or 'I'm not finished here yet'. It was said somewhat in passing but those comments sat uneasily for Rob.

As I kissed him goodbye this morning he said "If anything happens today or if that guy comes back with a gun & shoots me, please know I love. Really. I really really love you. And puppy. But mostly you." I kissed him again and headed off to work.

Everything ended up going fine & the man did not come back today. Under our stack of mail, however, pushed aside after his day went well, I found the following note that he must have written this morning before going to work.

You guys...he is just simply the best. <3
