Doing this from my phone. Disappointing day for the most part.
-The cable guy did NOT come yesterday. Gave a huge window 8am to 8pm… and still didn’t show up.
-Court today… have to be at court at 9am… but other than “you have no money and are behind on your payments” there is nothing until 1. So, I am sitting in court with nothing for 3 hours.
-Still have not received a needed report from my officer. I need to get my paperwork in ASAP but… still waiting.
-Speaking of Officers, that Discovery I have been trying to finish? I’very been hounding the arresting officer for everything and have heard nothing. Frustrating.
Then my phone died! Ufda! Waiting an hour + with no phone.... drives a mind like mine mad, lol. Came back to the office to (fingers crossed) get that report.... GOT IT. Now time to write! And then.... yeah… probably try to sneak out of here early. Because I was here for 10 hours yesterday.
Sometimes… in this job… holy fuckballs!
This afternoon’s court? An attractive well dressed lady aged 27. She’s already got 2 kids; a criminal record a mile long (due to alcohol) and she can’t remember ANYTHING about the night she was arrested. She was screaming obscenities at the top of her lungs… and has a history of this.
This report I’m writing? The guy has 3 kids (that the state has already removed permanently) and 10 Public Intox convictions… he (literally) is out of prison for less than a week before he comes back in with alcohol charges. He’s 30.
NO WONDER THIS COUNTY IS HOW IT IS! The only people I see around here are old people… apparently not because there are ZERO young people but because the young people are all alcoholics or drug addicts. Seriously… I’d like to take some of these people and just… put them in a place like Des Moines for a week. Monitor them, to keep them away from drugs and alcohol, but otherwise simply let them explore the city. If they stay in their room and bitch the whole time? Then, yeah, okay… bad people. If they explore and find things to do? Then… bad town. Because no offense but… I don’t know many 30 year olds (and younger) that feel enriched in a town like this. And it is showing because most of the repeat offenders? Alcohol and drug charges on people between the ages of 23 and 38. I feel the need to put a caveat here saying… yes, many might say “that’s the age people do drugs and alcohol” but in Omaha the spread of criminals was far wider stretching up into arresting/incarcerating people between the ages of 18 and 89. So, yes, while younger individuals are often more likely to make risky and/or bad decisions… I do feel justified in suggesting that the area’s staunch insistence that no new businesses and no new services would be needed. Dude… you put a cineplex in this town, you’ll cut crime in half and have jobs. Or how about a COFFEE SHOP! Even a freaking coffee shop, dude! Anywhere besides The Bar or a convenience store to be social!! Because it is insane that those would be considered sufficient enough options for people.
