Inflammation in the Public Sphere? in Everyday Ramblings

I love this house. I took this picture just this time last year on my way to a medical appointment and the house is in the original neighborhood before they started putting big busy roads through it. Photobucket seems to be working well again. I looked up the dates then; I think this was built in 1858. In case it looks familiar to a few of you, I have this up on Facebook.

The neighborhood continues to change. That beautiful tree at the park I posted a picture of here a few days ago, is gone now.

I feel sad that I am not so deep into the history “stuff” right now. It is still all there talking to me but I don’t have as much time for it. The overtime I am authorized to work to both keep up with the demands of our work flow and to keep my income up (salary freeze) really does eat into the time I can do the things that bring me joy.

Last year this time I was only working overtime occasionally.

I wrote another poem a couple of months ago, (there is a reading this weekend) but it is too dense and I need to work on it. All the history writing I am doing is too dense because I am all caught up in the fascinating details.

I got a bill for $400 for the extra bone grafts a few weeks back. The bill was itemized with all the procedures so far, wowza. It is like taking one’s car to the shop. One never knows how much it is going to cost. At least I am paying for it and not wracking up debt.

We’ve had gloom and drizzle for days now and there is a rumor there will be clearing later today. At least it hasn’t been extreme weather though it has been extremely weird. It is like June is normally but warmer and there are spiders everywhere!

If you guys remember Tall Guy from OD, he wrote a thoughtful short post yesterday on Facebook about the fact that calling Donald Trump insane is basically an affront to people with mental illness and I am glad he did that.

Donald Trump has a personality disorder. It is who he is. He is not going to get treatment or get better. Just like Mr. Fine China. His brain works differently than ours. Newt Gingrich calls him a talented amateur politician. Eek.

And as a woman I heard in an interview said yesterday, he does say out loud what a lot of Americans are thinking and painful as that is, and it is plenty painful, it is also good to know.

Still I thought his Second Amendment comment yesterday was not so very much different from what the terrorists say in their propaganda videos in terms of inflaming folks that might already have somewhat abnormal world views, a sense of empowerment now and access to high powered assault weapons.

I hope, I sincerely hope I am misinterpreting all this and that my concerns are baseless but it is hard to not be afraid.

So I am glad that I have my spiritual teachings that allow me and help me to reset, just like Trump tried to do earlier in the week, and ground down into a calm and open mindset.
