Motion Picture (V’ger): V’ger needs to merge with his creator.
Wrath of Khan (Khan): Shoot at it, then have Spock sacrifice himself.
Search for Spock (Klingons): Shoot at it, blow up your own ship, then punch him in the face.
Voyager Home (Whale Probe): Time travel to get some whales.
Final Frontier (God): Shoot at it.
Undiscovered Country (General Chang): Shoot at it with a torpedo that can detect a bird of prey’s ion trail.
Generations (Soran): Punch an old guy in the face.
First Contact (Borg): Shoot at it with holographic bullets, then melt them with warp core coolant.
Insurrection (Son’a): Shoot at it, and use their own self-destruct.
Nemesis (Shinzon/Scimitar): Shoot at it, then ram the ship.
The Star Trek (Nero): Shoot at it, and then use red matter.
Into Darkness (Khan): Transport torpedoes onto their ship, then punch him in the face.
Beyond (Krall’s swarm): LISTEN ALL Y’ALL IT’S A SABOTAGE.

My point is to give credit any time the major plot arch isn’t solved by simply shooting or punching people in the face. Star Trek Beyond is only the third movie not to involve this. I’m a bit amused to write this out and SEE how often conflict is solved by just shooting at it.
