When I “blocked the bridge” during a uncut action to support the NHS I was confronted by a doctor on his way to the hostpital, we spoke and I decided to counter the action and let him through. This got everyones hump up, the people we were blocking and the absolutist activists. It was a personal call.
BLM activists have made dozens of such calls, their directions to organisers changed to choose sites near junctions or with other routes available.
What people seem to be missing is there are two kinds of actions :-
Civil distruption to bring to light the situation and Direct Action.
Lying down infront of cop shops to stop their cars is a direct action, it works to distrupt the enenmy directly, This very action is often done against immigration squads.
Civil distruption ie lying down in roadways is about making you aware.
I suspect the same people who attack blm now were not on threads when four people marched A-B waving a banner. but four people lying on the ground gets nottingham stopped and gets the tongues wagging nationwide and for everyone going psht I disagree with their methods, there is the breath “but I agree with their cause”…
BLM like any non centralised movement has issues of variance, the group gets blamed for the anti white tone of some factions, just as Occupy did for the Marxist ones…
You have to take context, and in context stopping traffic is a reflection of the civil rights campaigns of the 50/60’s, they are saying “we still feel this is our only way to speak” and they are hoping that the people will get so pissed off that the white majority will force the government to inact the changes that will see less murders of unarmed black men and subsequently less hold ups in traffic.
Final note.I never saw one thread attaching traffic delays when the TUC march of the black bloc go mobile, neither did anyone say boo when the march of millions brought thousands of cities to a stand still.... when anti uber cabbies took a motorway and attacked cars everyone celebrated what a strong action it was.
the points are valid but even if you personally do comment on all these things equally you are being part of a misproportian response to BLM actions, and this reactionary tone in our society is every bit as damaging as the overt raciasm our infrastructure retains.
Block traffic, get angry, don’t speak in a whimper as they crush your liberty, fight back, speak loud, make change .. etc etc other slogans xx rar rar rhetoric x play nice x
