I just thought of something… I deal with a lot of men on meth who also have violent tendencies (likely caused BY the meth). But they all have the same common features and I could not find a suitable google picture. No, I’m not talking about Meth Mouth or Facial Scarring. I’m talking… thing, often short, unwashed and unkempt with a beard but not a beard. It is like a patch of hair that developed on their chin… and they’ve just let it take on a life of its own. It is unfortunate that I cannot find a picture, nor can I do a Macro. It is times like this that make me think “You like writing, but you can’t do it. Because a good writer would be able to describe this well.”

1 Do you like blue cheese?

Never had much occasion to try it. Likely, never will. My wife is (seriously, terrifyingly, clinically) OBSESSED with cheese. But considers blue cheese, goat cheese, and most american cheeses to be verboten.

Wait… this was called the 44… where’s number 2? Did someone steal number 2?!

3 Do you own a gun?

I have owned guns in the past (shotguns mostly). Wife owns 2 shotguns and 1 rifle. My brother owns an arsenal!

4 What is your favorite flavor?

If I had to say a specific flavor… it would be tough… probably… Fruit Punch?

5 Do you get nervous before Doctor visits?

Not typically. I tend to avoid doctors… not out of emotional conflict but out of practicality. Doctor Visits typically require considerable waiting and considerable cost; two things I’d rather like to avoid.

6 What do you think of hot dogs?

I am a fan. One of the Eponymously Named Dishes our family serves is hot dogs, cheese and mashed potatoes all baked into a giant casserole. Also LOVE cheese dogs. At my best in High School Swimming… I’d spend the saturdays after practice at an old fashioned Soda Shop and eat a chili cheese dog, a rootbeer float, and a banana split :)

7 Favorite Movie?

Many! When I was a kid my favorite movies were Back to the Future and Top Gun. Then Star Wars. Then What Dreams May Come. Then Primer. So, right now, I’d probably say Primer and Bunraku.

8 What do you prefer to drink in the morning?

I don’t drink coffee and I’m usually too warm to enjoy tea. Sometimes, when I lived in a city that knew wtf an iced mocha was, I’d drink one of those.

9 Do you do push ups?

I used to. I used to do LOTS of physical fitness stuff. But I do much much less now.

10 What’s your favorite piece of jewelry?

Really, the only jewelry I wear is my wedding ring… and it isn’t a good piece. Parts of it come off all of the time.

11 Favorite hobby?

Writing. Then video games. Then watching movies. Then discussing movies. Then conversational debating. Then tabletop games. Then Comic Books. Then television shows (including anime). Then reading. Then tennis. Then swimming. Then mini golf. I wish I could put acting on here but honestly… haven’t been on stage since I was a college freshman. It would be really nice to try it again. See if I’ve improved. See if I still love it.

12 Do you have A.D.D.?

No. Wife has been diagnosed; so as we live together… I do/have developed some ADD tendencies… but not diagnosible.

13 What’s the one thing you dislike about yourself?

Most of me… I was once adorable and charming, now I’m misshapen and awkward.... I used to have passion and drive, now I have a survival instinct

14 What is your middle name?

It is my mother’s maiden name (and unique, so I feel it would be inappropriate to share) but I have been told that it is the Norwegian word for Volcano

15 Name three thoughts at this moment?

Thought First: I’m thirsty
Thought Second: I miss having a sense of purpose. A want to be in the world
Thought Third: Are we all doomed or is it just that many of us are having an off year

16 Name 3 drinks you regularly drink?

Whiskey, Rum, Water

17 Current worry?

Learning the job, discovering a job that I could do better in a city that would accept me

18 Current annoyance right now?

Work, town size, and my own ineptitude and laziness

19 Favorite place to be?

These days, it would be Omaha or Ames or Des Moines… but it would be nice if the answer could be something more exotic

20 How do you ring in the new year?

It has changed significantly over the years. I used to do parties with friends. Then I used to ring it in solo playing video games. Now, Wife and I may go to a party if we’re invited but we’re far more likely to simply stay home and do… nothing. Maybe drink. But we don’t watch the ball or anything.

21 Where would you like to go?

I’ve told my wife and I’ll tell the executor of my future estate… if I don’t visit England, Ireland, and Japan… mail my ashes there… because I’ll consider it unfinished business if I never get to any of those places!

Many already have

23 Do you own slippers?

Sort of. More like moccasins. They were a lifesaver when the wooden floors of the house were super dusty. I’m weird about that… excessive dust between my toes just.... gets to me.

24 What color shirt are you wearing right now?

I am in a blue and white striped button up long sleeved dress shirt, wearing a gold, blue, and silver tie under a lightly faded grey suit coat.

25 Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?

It was a nice novelty when I shaved my body for swimming but it is certainly something I can do without

26 Can you whistle?

I never used to be able to. Then I sort of learned on accident while living in the Shit Shack (likely to keep from going strarkers) and it became a nervous habit until my wife moved to Up North County and started calling me on it.

27 What are your favorite colors?

Green, Purple, Red, Black

28 Would you be a pirate?

My brother is the pirate and viking and while I would applaud and support him, I fear I could not join him. Perhaps I could be writer of his adventures when he returned home

29 What songs do you sing in the shower?

I used to sing a great deal more in the shower, now not so much. Though that has a lot to do with my brain. Signing in the shower is a function, for me, of whatever tune is playing in my head as I am in the shower. I haven’t had many songs in my head lately, least of all in the shower.

Right inside breast pocket; cell phone; Left inside breast pocket: wallet. Pants pocket: car keys

33 Last thing that made you laugh?

Discussing the insane nature of my current county with someone who has lived here her entire adult life

34 Best toy as a child?

I used to play with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures all the time. I still kick the fuck out of myself for letting my brother talk me into smashing all of them for a supposed art project of his.

35 Worst injury you ever had?

I split my head open when I was 2, several stitches to my face over the years, was stung by a hornet so many times I started vomiting, razor clams cut my arms and legs to shit while free climbing on the Oregon coast line

36 Where would you love to live?

In a proper quality house in a suburb of Des Moines

37 How many TV’s do you have?

We currently own 4 televisions. One for the bedroom, one for the workout room, one for the living room, and one for the guest bedroom

38 Who is your loudest friend?

Honestly, don’t have many loud friends anymore. Going from acting (loud everywhere) to Law (loud in isolated instances) made that happen. Though my old legal partner Matt can get pretty loud when he’s been drinking

39 How many dogs do you have?

Zero. It is awful. I grew up with a dog and my parents have had dogs most of my life. My brother has had two dogs. Here I am at 32 and I’ve never owned one. But… we don’t own the house, we rent so… STILL can’t get one. DAMN!

40 Does someone trust you?

Probably. And as much as I should be honored by that (and work to keep that trust as a matter of honor) I feel like anyone who trusts me shouldn’t. I’ve never actively used information I’ve gained against someone else but I can be quite shit with keeping my word sometimes and I hate that I can be like that.

41 What book are you reading at the moment?

None at the moment. Still trying to figure out the damned Iowa Code. But there are several waiting at home that I look forward to cracking open.

42 What’s your favorite candy?

I don’t actually eat much candy anymore. I do like a terrible for you Hostess Cherry Pie thing but that seems more confectionery pastry than legitimate candy.

43 What’s your favorite sports team?

For Baseball… either the Dodgers or the Padres
For Football… either the Chargers or the Packers
For Basketball… either the Lakers or the Bulls
For Hockey… the New Jersey Devils
For British Soccer… I used to be big into Manchester but Chelsea really won me over during law school!

44 Favorite month?
Used to have one but don’t anymore. I suppose whatever month I’ll be taking vacations in ifever/whenever I start taking vacations.
