motion in poetry

you are a mechanism of empathy
you are a holy mineshaft of emotion
but you need to be alive
afterward to thrive
you have to reload after the explosion
give yourself some credit
give yourself a break
grant yourself sabbatical
there’s a lot you’re gonna have to take
before we get things done
let yourself breathe
have a little bit of fun
we’re getting there
we’re gonna need you strong
to put right
what once went wrong
then take that last leap home
it’s gonna take a while
don’t hold the phone
but we will get past the apathy
you mineshaft of emotion
you great machine of empathy
