Last night… just as I was getting to that good part of sleep… a lightning/thunder combination so brilliant that Wife and I thought it hit our backyard struck! No damage, no proof of strike, thank goodness. Apparently, small town and all, everyone heard it and thought it struck their backyard, lol. But… that killed sleep. A commodity I need and adore.

So, slept in today (which means slept until 7) and was still EXHAUSTED. Waking up tired should be against the laws of physics. And I thought… I don’t even have children… how do people do that?!

Went to Chiro who said, “You’re not as tight in your spine as you used to be; but your pain levels aren’t going down.” Yeah, dude. I mean… I’m thankful for a return of some of my range of movement… but I’ve been in constant pain for as long as I can remember. I’m not expecting miracles nor am I expecting anything to happen in the first month.

Got in to work… looked like it would be an acceptable day. And then.... crash. So, there was a 21 year old kid with a suspended license. He was going to get it unsuspended in August. So I said, we’d continue the matter out until he got his license and then see what we could do for him. TODAY… new charge. Because yesterday… was just driving around. And I get it. There is NO transportation around here. Literally. No buses, no taxis, no public vans. If you don’t have a car, you’d better have friends and family willing to drive you. So, I get the issue. But that does not allow me to ignore repeated violations of law. Your privilege to drive was suspended. I already gave you a break because I was understanding of the situation (and the State would rather have drivers who are licensed). But you did it again. Now I’ve got to be the bad guy that comes down hard.

So… I’ve been at work for an hour. I have to tell a 21 year old kid that he wasted his only break. And then I have to call the attorney of a 16 year old kid and say I can’t offer him a break on his drug dealing charges; because he is currently being investigated for multiple sexual assaults. Fun day. Especially considering I actually need to dedicate today to (1) Mental Health Hearing; a guy has had such a problem with alcohol the bars in the county have actually BANNED HIM but he continues to say he’s too strong to be addicted to anything; (2) I need to create and file Case Updates with the District Office to let them know what is going on in all of my cases. THAT is what today was supposed to be. Then tomorrow? We’ll see if that stays what it is supposed to be. Any county that has crime is likely to have a cold case; we are no exception. We have a single cold case, a homicide, from before I was even born. Friday is supposed to be meetings about the Cold Case and finishing up my District Report. Oh, and watching three hours of interviews of young girls describing how they were sexually assaulted.

FUN DAYS
