We looked at a Lacrosse in Lacrosse.... in These titles mean nothing.

… a bronzey Buick Lacrosse in the used car lot of the Ford dealership. Pretty car. Little pricey. 62,000 miles and they want seven or eight. Maybe we will offer six.
Downtown was pretty empty, this street anyway. I had Fayze’s french toast with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, plus an unconscionable amount of whipped cream. And some really good bacon.
Pic above is 5th street with the row of buildings on the right built by Hoeschler. One has the Dem headquarters, with a Hillary cutout smiling at us.
Hoeschler’s buildings are art deco. Hillary’s temporary home has mosaic panels going up the roof. Other’s have a bull and cat tails. I will photo them next time. That was a big shopping street when I was a kid. They are mostly empty now. A children’s museum is on one. The movie theater in the top picture is eternally under construction. The big building at the end of the block was Sears when Sears was not a mall store and when Sears was the big store all the way around.
Photo below is not prime but the gold mosaics show up pretty well.
In addition, we:
-
walked down to River Front Park where River Fest is on - but we were too early which was fine with us.
-
walked up the trail through the marsh where we had walked in March. Lots of birds, a frog, a moderate number of bikers and joggers and kids and parents. Milkweed is in full bloom. A very big cottonwood tree. The bagpiper who had been there in March wasn’t there today.
There is a bench with a quote from Shelley - she walks in beauty- across from the tree so you can sit and admire it.
-
tramped through the car lot and looked at Buicks and Fusions. So much fun to do it when the place is closed and salesmen are all at home barbecuing.
-
stopped at Good Will, where we looked at lamps and not much else and didn’t buy anything.
-
grocery shopped at Woodman’s where we bought a lot of stuff. Peanut butter and French jam (peach), turkey pastrami, pepper turkey, milk, o.j., Roman Meal bread, Kellogg’s K, Chex, corn chips, graham and saltine crackers, a pineapple, Bing cherries, Honey Crisp apples, cheap laundry detergent, - should have gotten dish soap - we only have one bottle now and have to move it back and forth between the kitchen and the bathroom. Frozen pizza, cheese spread, brat patties, ground beef, summer sausage for Jim and Gracie to share. Canned green beans and corn. Pink gum and starlight mints. And potatoes.
