As comes as no real surprise to me… getting my home office somewhat set up has been wonderful. Not just from a “I could do some work at home” perspective; but just simply… I need to feel connected to the outside world. The attorney was absolutely correct yesterday that Up North County is like it’s own little nation unto itself in some ways… and I would much rather stay “in America” (at least for the time being). So… internet, desktop, office… that helps.

Parents came. Dad certainly got some of my point. The fact that cats and dogs wander freely along the streets… that we had to have Mom posted at the front door while we were moving things just to keep the cats from getting into the house… the fact that the Garage is in the condition that it is… the fact that each closet in this house can hold roughly 16 articles of clothing max; thus Wife and I have every closet in the house filled to the brim with our clothes.... the fact that we don’t have a key for our own backdoor and the Landlord thinks that’s okay. That kind of stuff. So… he sees it. And it encouraged him to to leave immediately after everything was unpacked. Literally, they spent more time driving up here than the time they spent up here. AND I don’t blame them. At all. If I knew I could just turn around and go back to DM, I’d have done it, too. But… hopefully, Dad realizes what a little what I’m dealing with, then.

Though, both he and I agree… the house itself has a lot of potential. When it is finished, the house could be a satisfactory refuge from… well… the town. But it has a long way to go. And since we see a worker maybe a few hours each month… we may have a long ways to go for a while.
