We went to my parents cottage on the weekend, which is in Wasaga beach. They have a little blue and white cottage that is part of a horseshoe of 9 cottages that look the same and they’re right on the water. It was pretty cool to wake up Saturday morning and to just be right there in the sand and to see the water. Such a peaceful atmosphere. My parents used to have a house in Wasaga too but they sold it when they moved close to us. We used to always stay at the house to sleep over, never the cottage since it’s so small. My parents slept at my aunt and uncles place this weekend so we could have the cottage to ourselves (it only has 2 bedrooms). They’ve had this cottage for over 15 years now.
Mike moved Summer’s car seat to the back seat so I could sit back there with her and feed her a bottle or talk to her to prevent her from crying while we drove there. She has gotten better about crying in the car and doesn’t do it all the time like she used to but I still knew a 2+ hour drive was pushing it. It worked great too! She slept a bit and stared at me a whole lot lol. I was trying to read a book and she’s just staring at me for hours lol. I did talk to her of course but I wasn’t going to have an hour long conversation with her. The last 15 minutes of the drive the boys were getting restless and loud and Summer just decided she wanted out of her seat so she was crying and I was able to distract her a bit but then she’d just cry again. She was so relieved to be out of that confining seat when we got there.
Cody and Miles played in the sand for ten thousand hours while we were there. That was basically all they did besides eat lol. Cody and I played frisbee a bit and I was able to have my mom watch the baby so I could swim a couple of times which was awesome cuz I could not WAIT to swim! I used to live there years ago and I just love swimming so I went every day. I had a job as a pizza delivery driver for part of that time and worked at a call center for the rest of the time so my job didn’t start until the evenings which was great for being able to enjoy the beach during the summer and swim a lot. But anyways, I was happy that Cody enjoyed swimming this year. Miles didn’t want anything to do with the water unfortunately but Cody was like that once so I know that will change eventually.
My brothers, SIL, niece, aunt and uncle came over on Saturday so that was fun. And busy! They all wanted to hold Summer and she did really well, smiling at everyone and just being her chill self. She had a million short naps that day which was sort of exhausting for me because I didn’t get too much of a break and had to help her fall asleep over and over. The boys shared a bed for the first time which was kind of disastrous. They talked forever the first night and were fighting a bit and then Miles woke Cody up in the middle of the night asking where his soothers were. Then they kept laughing/chatting and it was like 3am so we got tired of it and each slept with one of them. The next night they were so exhausted from running around and playing all day without a nap that Miles’ eyes were actually red and he said they hurt so they both fell asleep right away after we washed an insane amount of sand off of them.
We also took the kids mini golfing at a place with a pirate theme. The baby slept in my baby carrier the whole time, it was great. I had to putt awkwardly because she was sleeping in there but I still managed to beat Mike :) Then we went to my favorite frozen yogurt place afterwards which I have been going to for 15 years. They have a ton of flavors. My all time favorite is peanut butter and oreo frozen yogurt in a waffle cone. Yummy! So yeah....we had a great time even though the cottage was a bit small for the 5 of us (Summer’s playpen had to be in the main room cuz it wouldn’t fit in our bedroom). I think we will go again later in the summer.
