3 AM Thankfuls in The Day To Day Ramblings

I'm currently wide awake at 3 AM, too uncomfortable from a pinched nerve in my neck & a pulled muscle in my back to sleep. No position is comfortable & despite muscle relaxers & ibuprofen, here I am.

The wind is howling outside, snow drifts crawling up the windows & windchills predicted to be near -75 in the next three days. As I lay here, consciously in pain, I am also consciously thankful. I have a safe & warm home, a healthy & strong body that is only momentarily achey, a kind & gentle spouse who caters to me when I am sore & a sweet puppy who tries to ease my hurt by pressing her body against mine. Our bed, and our life, are full and blessed.

So while things are not perfect & there are minor annoyances & discomforts & frustrations, there are also these chances the universe gives us to focus instead on the things going right, going well, going just where we need them to go. There is always the negative & the unfair but for every negative lies a positive waiting to be realized & embraced.

Although I'm still stiff & uncomfortable in this moment, I have a feeling I will rest well tonight in our big old bed, tucked between countless pillows & thick down comforters & running-in-her-sleep puppy paws & heavy asleep husband arms & I will be grateful for the warmth in our little world. It may be howling & frigid outside but at 3 AM, snuggled up with these two, there is nowhere else I'd rather be.
