LEAVE? in Voices Windward

I have never been so ashamed of my birthplace.

The British people have allowed a variety of bigotry, capitalist greed, 19th century patriotism, misdirected attacks at Cameron and Austerity and utterly idiotic left wing fantasies of liberty to vote for leave, driven by xenophobia, propaganda or maybe they just feel this way?

Thing is, I believe in democracy and the voice of the people, in my ideal little system it’d take a qurom of 75% to mandate such a radical shift, but 50% at least demands a full debate at all levels, whether of not I like it, it is what the British people have called for.

It will be a few years before we leave and much turmoil and drama....
Im sure this attitude of blaming foreigner for our social illness rather than the capitalists who choke us while telling us to “take the power back” will continue to grow and embed itself brand of divide deeper and deeper.

So what do we actually do now?

I see three avenues of pursuit for us as revolutionaries of one brand or another.

  1. Seek a EU Passport for former EU citizens if a leave comes about.
  2. Seek to usurp the xenophobic campaign of LEAVE and replace it with a genuine socialist one, which the reformist in me says push for a Corbyn lead victory in 2020 and the revolutionary in me says demand full regional devolution by any and all means.
  3. Given a leave procedure and what I suspect will be a rise of the right wing, fascism and isolationist patriotism, if we maintain a Tory, or perhaps even a protest voted in UKIP come 2020, the time for civil disobedience is at an end and those with the ability and inclination must prepare for asymmetric insurgency.

I hope democracy and education are the end victors here… there was a massive turn out and I hope all those who voted whether in pen or pencil, will engage further with their government at a local, national and international level and assess the means and methods to reform them and revolt against them if need be.

I expect those who voted LEAVE will some day see this as a day they truly regret, when misplaced idealism and belief in misinformation stole their liberty and drowned it in thunderous applause.
