Talaia's new found fear is because I'm ill. She came and cuddled and talked about death before asking when I would be better. I told her that no one had ever died from tonsillitis, that I was on the mend and just needed to build my energy up again.

But what do you say to a child who is missing two grandparents, grandparents that she never met? Both died early. My mum in a car accident and Rich's dad from cancer.

She asked how you cope when your parent dies, I told her that Nana Ann lives in my heart, my memory and the stories that I tell her and Lila about her.

Oh my angel, how hard it is to be a child scared of something so real, something that can't be calmed by the phrase "but it's never going to happen."
