A brave new world? in A small but passable life.

There hasn’t been anything going on around here. It’s been hot and humid. Unusually hot.
Liam Dog and I did manage two long walks. One on the 8th to the library to pick up the latest book, “End of Watch” by Stephen King, and one yesterday to return the book.
I went downstairs to put on a pot of coffee and to take my weekly Sunday shave and shower and found a Father’s Day present from my darling daughter waiting for me on the kitchen table, with a sweet note. It was a nice bottle of Beardsmen beard oil. A nice 4oz blue glass bottle. “Bold Forest” scent. All natural ingredients and only a few drops are needed at a time. Nice. I smell like a pine forest now.
At the top of my weather.com bar is the temperature of three different zip codes. I can’t help but notice that one, 98661, has been hovering in the upper fifties lately. How nice would that be? Phoenix may be on its way to breaking their all time high of 120 sometime this coming week. Maybe a predicted 122. I’m glad I bailed when I did.
I’m back to reading the “Masterpieces of World Philosophy in Summary Form”. What I’ve been doing is reading the summary and then re-reading the actual work on the Kindle. That was the first thing I did when I got the Kindle is load all the old greats from gutenburg.org. I’m up to Aristotle now- “The highest good for man is the contemplative life”. I can go with that.
I’ve got a list of books to order from the library but I’ll need assistance because some are brand new and some are obscure.
I’ve been paying attention to the whole self-driving car thing. It may be coming quicker than anyone ever thought it would. The algorithms are now self-learning with massive feedback loops. The only way is forward.
The number one job for males in the US right now is some kind of driving job. Think about that. (Gabe, it’s still nursing in NY!)
And of course it will also affect other jobs. Like insurance because there will be no wrecks. Traffic cops will have nothing to ticket. Truck stops will be servicing trucks instead of drivers. And on and on.
Anyway, I’ve got more to write, but maybe later.
