The bell just rang for all students to depart. This has been my favorite school year so far. I celebrated my 8th graders moving on to high school, knitted them little bookmarks as a small gift. I truly loved them. I am taking a break from 8th grade for a while, next year i am working with 5th and 7th graders. In fact, i need to go talk with the 5th grade teachers and find out what their plans are for reading and writing. Building my schedule is very dependent on what and when they decide to schedule those academic areas.

So, my house deal fell through. The inspection showed that the house needed a new roof, as well as the appraisal’s value (203K when i was offering 210K) contingent on the roof being replaced. So, my realtor negotiated the the roof either be fixed, or they contribute to closing costs. The seller was unwilling to budge on anything and decided to just back out. Oh well. That happened last week and i set up 5 house viewings for last Saturday. It was a whirlwind. The first house was perfect, but too far away from the urban core. The second house was great and funky, but needed more work than i could put into it (and sold as-is). The third house was too boring. The fourth was lovely and in the perfect area, but i knew i could never be in the running for the house.

The 5th house: mine. I knew it as soon as i walked up the steep, narrow stairs to the 200 sq ft knotty pine, 1970’s decal-ed (and lacquered) attic. So, they accepted my offer and i am officially in escrow (again). Here is a link to the place… you will notice a recording studio basement and won’t see the french doors off the master bedroom, leading to a personal patio! Its huge, 1500 square feet, and has a laundry room and a garage!

Well, my goal is to go home and nap, see if i have the energy to attend the staff party.
