"OLD MEMORIES..." in "DEAR REALITY"

Memories are for keeps. Good or bad, they’re not easily discarded for as long as one can still remember. Their existence is a paradox; they’re there and not at the same time. They exist but are invisible and can’t be touched.

Sometimes you believe that you can discard them - somewhere in the darkest corner of your mind. You can pretend that they’re not there at all, especially if they’re the bad ones. You just want to move on. You don’t want to let them affect you too much every step of the way.

It may be the same thing for the good ones, even beautiful memories about the loved ones you can no longer see, whether here on earth or else. It’s not that you don’t love them anymore. There’s a part of you that will never stop loving them, no matter what. There are elements around you that can be associated to them, because they have been around once. They were part of your life, once upon a time.

Rejecting memories - no matter how bad or how sad - is like denying a part of your life that has taken place in the past. Like it or not, they’re there for a reason or more:

To strengthen you and hopefully turn you into a much better person in the future, someone you can really love and be proud of. To appreciate your loved ones more when they’re still around. To let them go when it’s time, even when you’re never really ready - no matter how hard it is. In fact, there’s no other choice in this matter.

Memories are for keeps. Good and bad, they’re forever yours…
