Daisy on the Flower Clock in Everyday Ramblings

This is what it looks like out there in my world now as the end of spring extravagance blooms forth. We had a lovely rain night before last, which was much appreciated as the pollen counts have been off the charts here and everyone is coughing and tired. And today we head into the period of “excessive” heat that we have been getting warnings about for a week.

It is better than tornados and flooding or drought manifest.

It is daisy on the flower clock.

Apropos of nothing Nimrod came into the office I share yesterday morning to tell me that it was fine with him if I returned to the schedule I was working previously. I guess I proved to whoever was causing the problem that I am no longer “getting special treatment”. It seems like a small thing, an extra four hours working from home each week but it is so much easier in terms of logistics.

The crowns for the implants are going to cost more than I had imagined and when I got the estimate earlier in the week I had an adult mature response and came home and, umm, ate cupcakes. :)

I don’t normally eat cake or cupcakes but as my normal sugar delivery systems are not available to me right now…

I can do it though. It is just like anything else, the car or the remodel job that ends up costing more than one expected, that gulp and fear and then eventual acceptance.

Yesterday I was over my Weight Watchers goal weight for the first time since I hit said goal. There is no way I am staying up at this weight. I worked way too hard to get it off and it is so much easier if one does not need to focus on losing it.

I reassured myself yesterday that I know exactly what I need to do, (and it doesn’t involve restriction) and how to make informed and conscious choices that move in the direction I want to go.

Gary, one of my teachers always says that change is inevitable. What we can do is affect the direction of that change.

And my world is abundant with gorgeous ripe fruit. We should be seeing fresh tomatoes sometime soon too. Oh boy.

My dental team assures me that we will be able to wrap all this work up by the winter holidays.

I am going to have a whole series of appointments close together starting at the end of next week so I am looking forward to having a relatively normal weekend. S and my poodle friend Frieda are available for a walk tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.

The book on the history of genes remains completely engaging if just slightly over my head at times as I wander around town listening to it.

Our fiscal year end is June 30th and our workday yesterday was insane. To give you some context, when I started this job almost nine years ago I was sending out hard copy of approximately 100 invoices a month. Yesterday, in one day, we sent out 70 electronically. And almost all the requests came in during a 45-minute period in the morning. Saint Joe is amazing and what a gift it is that we work so well together.

When I decided to walk over the big hill to the grocery last night I just walked.

I didn’t talk on the phone or listen to the book or podcasts or music, I put one foot in front of the other and absorbed the dappled glare from the cloud filled sky and made my way.

That in and of itself is a gift not to be taken for granted.
