Quiet but busy Memorial Day in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was quieter than it has ever been and I was just a bit sad. I guess I got what I wished for earlier in the week, but maybe I need to rethink that thought.

Planted another tub of green beans yesterday morning and laid cardboard and shredded paper in the corn and the tomatoes. This should reduce weed pulling and taking water and nutrition from the plants. We received rain, actually a storm, late yesterday afternoon. I was grilling J and I a couple of hotdogs and hamburgers, and it arrived. My grill is on the porch so I could still grill. Sorta. I need to take it apart and clean it as the right side burners were not working. That will be today or tomorrow’s project. After getting the plants mulched I finished cleaning the front porch. This was a major undertaking as I had SOOO much stuff on the porch that didn’t need to stay on the porch. I threw away a lot of stuff that I used when planting and got everything except the bench and the big planters into the yard and then proceeded to use the leaf blower. During this cleaning, all the kids had gone to the creek to swim and play in the water. Dude and family arrived around noon with hotdogs and chips and I assumed we were going to grill and eat later. Dude was going to power wash my front porch but I told him we needed to wait until the two bird nests were empty. His right wrist is giving him a lot of pain so he was good with that idea. I think he was going to the Dr this morning to have the wrist looked at and possibly get an x-ray. When they all returned from the creek, they got the chips they bought and headed back to town and were going to the pool. They have to buy a membership since it isn’t a city pool, but with Dudette’s new job, they apparently can afford to pay the membership fee now. So they left and J and I were alone. Oh and A and O went to the pool too.

Strange feeling of lonely which I hardly ever have and usually can stuff it and move on. For whatever reason, yesterday was a bit different. Oh well, a new day has arrived and J and I could have gone to the pool too, but neither of us wanted to so we got what we got.

I have to go to Wally World to pick up some things I’m out of today. I used the last of the Miracle Whip and Mayo yesterday and will also get another small jar of relish. I have a list started so hope I don’t forget anything I need for the pantry. Found a DIY bug repellent so going to look for vegetable glycerin to make a small batch. I have everything else I think but may pick up another bottle of Witch Hazel. It comes in handy for lots of things anyway.

It is getting ready to rain again. It is early, but there are dark clouds coming into the area. My plants should like it.

Finally completely finished the front flower bed. I put a bag of mulch in and around it so it even looks better to me than when I took the picture. I have all the gardening and planting stuff put away so everything looks so much “cleaner”. Dude parked his mower trailer in the other front yard, and I’m not pleased about him leaving it there. Not sure when he’ll move it, but it needs to be moved. He can park it where the old pickup used to sit. NOT in my front yard!! He doesn’t seem to realize how much I’ve been working on this place, or he was just in a hurry, but I will get it out of the way come mowing time one way or the other. Of course that may be awhile, since rain is in the forecast for most everyday this week. *sigh I don’t mind rain however, a couple of non rainy days in between would be welcomed.

Ending this entry for this morning so I can get going. I have Turmeric on my list, so hopefully it helps my joints soon!

Take care and God Bless

Edit: Finally got a better looking trellis built this morning that I plan to use for another container of cucumbers. Must decided where to locate it as it is starting to get bigger. At this time I plan to keep the pot it is in, in the old BBQ grill and it is on wheels. Hope I can decide very soon. :)
