I just returned from Sheldon’s birthday party at Elios. I hadn’t been there before, nor had I even heard of it, but it wasn’t bad at all, considering it’s in the middle of nowhere. All you can eat buffet for $36, and I’d already paid a $10 deposit so just had to pay the rest. I’d gotten $40 out of the ATM so could only get $10 change out of everyone else’s pay but hey I’ll for-go the $4.
I was actually the first to arrive, which was actually a good thing because I was busting to use the bathroom haha, so I grabbed the key and went out to the back carpark to their dunny (it’s one of those places). Kinda smart putting a dunny out in the back carpark I think for a variety of reasons. I couldn’t find a lightswitch anywhere, however, so had to kind of rely on a combination of the little moonlight shining through the top of the door, and the light from my phone. LOL. Made for quite the experience. Just as well too, because that leftover pasta salad in the fridge I’d eaten when I’d gotten home from the wedding totally didn’t agree with me, and I now know I have to throw the rest of it out :P
Anyway, by the time I returned, the birthday boy and a few of his friends had arrived, so I scurried in along the cushioned seat and joined them. I gave him a hug and his present.
It was a little awkward there to start with, probably the first half-hour or so, as I didn’t know everyone and I wasn’t seated near the birthday boy, but it’s not like I can just hog all of his attention, you know. That wouldn’t be fair, so i just listened a lot and made the occasional comment here and there to the strangers around me. There was a couple next to me, who I learned had been together for 6 years now. Wow. I joked, “Wow, that’s impressive. That’s like 18 years in gay-years.” I thought I recognized his boyfriend from somewhere but I’m not sure where. His boyfriend was more the quieter one but the guy next to me was very good at conversation and continued it on with ease. I hate guys who can just do that haha. Damn them.
Anyway, the food was great. Out came cheesy calzone breads, pita breads with toppings, salads, pasta bakes, risotto’s, chicken fettuccini’s, penne’s, and then out came a variety of pizza’s and then out came ribs and prawns and finally desserts and tea/coffee. A lot of people missed out on the dessert’s as they were totally in a food coma. I lasted the night. I even ordered a second helping of ribs, which I polished off myself except for two of them which the girls across from me ate haha. They were hilarious too, so it was nice to loosen up a little and laugh at what they were saying. A girl next to me was really quiet and opted to catch an Uber back home, and the guy who showed up on the app was some Indian guy named ‘Sumit’ who was wearing an orange shirt, so the girls were joking that he looked like he’d just gotten out of prison and to text them when she got home. The guy had 5 stars though.
Then they were stalking the Uber driver via the app and he was taking her in a different direction to home, so the girls were making all these hilariously inappropriate jokes that she’d been chloroformed etc etc. I make it sound horrible but it was actually really funny. Sheldon definitely picks his friends well. They are as disturbing as he is haha. Then the girls realised the uber car was actually at her house haha.
Anyway, Sheldon looked amazing. He was just wearing a plain black shirt, but that’s all he needed. I haven’t seen him in a while but I’m not sure if he’s been working out or just generally looks good. He always had in my eyes anyway.
I had a bit of a conversation with his mum, since she was seated across from me, so that was nice. Turns out I haven’t seen her in like two or three years, since Sheldon had his ‘sugar rush’ birthday party. It doesn’t seem like that was that long ago, but I knew it had to have been at least two years. But his mum was saying she lived in Perth and only came back last year so I’d think that’d quite a commitment and maybe it’s actually been three years since I last saw her. Anyway, she’s a lovely lady. His brothers were seated over on the other table (we had two long ones, seated outside), so I didn’t get to hear any of their conversation. I don’t know them anyway.
The gay couple were chatting to his mum as well for a while about some pretty interesting topics, namely about Sheldon (who was socializing over at the other table), and how different all three of her sons were when they were all raised under the same roof etc. It made me think, they really are haha. And for Sheldon to be the gay one out of the three is just a fascinating circumstance.
Sheldon eventually opened up his gifts, which I was excited about because I wanted his reaction to mine. I sure got one. Everyone at the table LOVED the gift that I got him. So much so that it got passed around the table for everyone to have a look at and even Andrew (another guy I sort of only vaguely know) and the two hilarious girls were on their phones right away looking up where to order their own copies LOL.
I was SO happy that was a hit. I made sure to mention that I looked around for ages before I settled on that particular gift for him haha. The talkative gay out of the couple complimented me on my wrapping skills. I took the credit for it, even though it was all done for me. Check! :D
Anyway, I was one of the last to leave. Sheldon was under the impression that I’d taken the bus there but I nonchalantly mentioned I was driving. I’m not giving him the satisfaction of me taking public transport being a bad thing. And I wanted to get out of there anyway and get home and get some sleep, because I have work in the morning. I also wanted to jump his bones, except another gay couple were still there to prevent me from doing something stupid, so yep, time to leave. I gave him another hug and took off before the other guys.
It was a pretty good night all in all.
