Reality is our excuse to allow the best parts of ourselves to be ignored.

Honestly, not trying to sound profound or deep.... I was just thinking how it is so unfortunate that I haven’t really done any truly creative writing… or really done anything creative in so long. And I started to think, “Yes but you don’t even have time for movies and video games these last few months.” And I thought… those are the excuses we hear from other people about everything. “Why didn’t you take care of your child?” Money/Time/Give a Damn ran out. “Why didn’t you ever spend time with your ailing relative?” Money/Time/Give a Damn ran out. If we really wanted to… “Money/Time/Give a Damn ran out” could prevent us from ever doing anything that wasn’t specifically about making money, or “saving” time. And invariably, if we’re spending all of our energy on purely productive pursuits; our motivations to do anything else dwindle. So… we focus on money and deadlines and scheduling… and “Money/Time/Give a Damn ran out” becomes our own personal mantra and Sentence.

And I admit and embrace the fact that… I’m really not super likely to change things anytime soon. I have a house to finish, a job to learn. I do have very important Money/Time things to focus on at the moment. But I hope… really hope… that some point soon I can embrace the creative again. Whether it is as minor as “Old Republic Role Play” or “Writing Erotic Fantasy” or “Reading a new book”...... just.... something.
